I'm looking to find a reasonable priced copy of Big Block Chevy Marine Performance by Dennis Moore. Does anyone have any suggestions? When I'm watching ebay, I see some ridiculous prices. I'll study the net before I pay what I'm seeing.

I saw Dennis was a member of this site, but doesn't look like he's been visiting lately or responds to emails.

I got mine from Dennis himself. I just called him up and ordered a copy. That`s just how I roll. :D
You can reach him at 626-357-3573.
He even wrote a personal note to me inside the cover and autographed it. That`s just how he rolls. :D
I can`t remember what I paid, I think it was $17.

Well I tried World Retailer... we'll see if they truely can get that book....

I paid the $60... that is fine with me. I already bought another book for around that which was out of print.

Cheaper than paying a guy 19 hours to pull 502 out of a fast boat with yards of space... ridiculous number of hours. Had it done two times before in around 7 hours...

Why didn`t you call Dennis Moore ?? And his book won`t tell you how to pull an engine anyway.
I tried writing Dennis Moore (through his name on the site), but didn't get a reply. Didn't expect his book to help with a pull, but was interested in the marine sections he writes. I pull quite a bit of Mechanical things apart, so I'm confident there. Aligning the engine is my big concern and the proper sealers, etc.

R-Snake-Jake--- thanks for the picture, looks the way to do it. My engine shop is going to help me with a fork lift. I also have a buddy with a bucket on a Case, and another friend with a huge shop... so somehow I'm doing it myself.

Jake- Did you run the engine out of the boat before you put it in? I'm running mine on a Dyno for breakin, but hoping to also run it on a test stand I'm going to borrow. I'd like to have all the attachments tested for leaks...

Any tips on this would be appreciated. I've got the electronics figured out 90%, gonna get the rest in the next week/two.

I don't have it together yet. But when it is i plan on having it dynoed, so the ECU can be programed. Building a new engine, spending mucho $$$$$. Wife aint too happy.. But IDGAF.. :D

So have you revealed what engine you're putting in? Did you wipple the original 502 and now buying new 500hp with new out drive?

I've bought a second MEFI-3 computer to play with the programming and analyze the protocol... I'd be interested in what you do / learn about programming your's.

I'm sorry I rushed and ordered it. If I don't get it, I'm calling Dennis. Too bad he's not listening to his email from this site or maybe he gets too much spam.

Thank you for this tip... I was too fast to order.

$175.00 at Amazon!
:eek3: If they're getting that much, I better put mine up for sale now before the price drops to the $10 or $15 it's really worth! No real engine building secrets in that book, but it does have some good fundamentals.

Hell, I`d probably sell mine. I`ve practically memorized it by now anyway. If you wouldn`t mind all the hand written notes on a bunch of pages and "Good luck Donnie" on the inside cover, you could buy mine. :)
