Sure could have used that Garmin when I got the experience of ramming into a sand bar at 45mph on Wednesday as a passenger. Damn those boats just don't go far in 8 inches of water!

Lowrance LMS-160 with a depth sensor witch gives me a pic the bottom. I keep it set on a split screen so I see my location and bottom contour

Garmin 176 MAP. I have one on each boat. Works great, had to rely o it this past weekend on a 60 mile cruise mostly in fog. Took us right to the outer marker.

Not to stray on the subject of this thread....but anybody got some thoughts on decent fuel monitors worth the $$?
43Thunder
ICOM mounted on the dash, Lowrance hand held, and a Garmin hand held back-up. BUT not all at the same time

Fuel monitors ???

Not convinced myself to spend the money just yet. A friend of ours has them on his Sonic and swears by them. He can tell just about everything about economy and proper cruise speed and well as gallons burned per engine. Pretty cool but expensive. I just go by the number of hours and gallons used. Just my $ .02

Fuel monitors:

I like the digital Standard Horizon FF41/Navman Power Fuel (same unit). Cheap ($150), accurate and easy to install. Also, will fit in a standard 2" cutout.

Lowrance LMS-160 Map, Very nice and all kinds of functions. I just wish the screen was larger. Easy to use and down load a different area off a CD. We went down to Lake Pontchartrain and I ordered a map from Navtronics. They sent it to me e-mail and down loaded it to my unit. Pretty Cool.

Does anyone offer a FF monitor that will work with 1/2" fuel lines? On second thought, maybe I don't want to know how much gas I use... ;) ;)

I've got a dinky handheld Garmin Legend. Good for the Car, Boat or just walking. Runs from 12v or it's own batterys, the on screen maps can be a bit small when in the boat bouncing along and only mono picture but I guess thats the price to pay for handy size go anywhere unit.

Oh and most important it's water proof and floats !!

I am still using my 10 year old Magellan GPS 3000 XL hooked up to a Magellan Differential Receiver. Yeah it is old but I paid a fortune for it and it still works. :D :D :D
