Michael thinks his first vehicle should be a Toyota x-cab 4 WD. Any info on engine specs or years to look for. Probably something in the 5-8k range.
Any good ones around your local? |

I have an 88', standard cab, 4 x 4. I keep it around as a 3rd car and have put less that 3000 miles on it in the last year :confused1 .
125,000 origional miles, 4 cylinder, no air :unhappy1: but still runs like a champ! Toyota makes a damn good truck. :smile1: |

| I had a 92' 2wd ext cab for a company truck that was prematurely retired for me in a parking lot. At retiral it had 375k and still ran and looked as good as new. At that point I got my original truck back which was given to me when I left that company. It was an 89 GMC 1500 and had 683k on when I sold it last month(had to rebuild engine at 265k, trans at 295k and rearend at 600k but the original water pump last until last year - better than my merc pump) |

I had two Toyota trucks when I was in school both 87 4X4's one with a 22r 4cyl and 33"s the other with 7"lift 36" Swapmers and a Chevy 350, we called it the TOYLET because the chevy stuff broke alot! seriously the Toyota's are great trucks the're fun and they'll go thru anything.
oh yeah! I'm in the auto industry and I question what "buy american" means! do you guys know how much out sourcing goes on with the big three? and unfortunatly because of the UAW the're selling mediocre pieces of crap for $30,000 so "Joe crack head" with 10yrs in can make $60-$70,000 a yr with full retirement and bennies!??? my neigbor is in skilled trades and makes $100,000+ a yr sleeping and watching movies at a Ford plant not to mention all the other people I know who work for the big three! B.S. if you ask me! |

| You should be able to find a late '90's extra cab 4wd in that price range. Toyota's (specifically there 4 cyl engines) are damn near industructable. The 4 cyl models aren't fast but they get around plenty good enough for someone just starting to drive plus they come with 4.11 gears from the factory so they pull pretty good. I've seen several of those 4 cyl trucks just keep running and running. |

I want the one they roll off the cliff and lands on the beach.
If it can take that, it should last forever. :laugher: :laugher: :laugher: |

| You can't go wrong with the 4 cyl 22r. Rust was Toyota's only problem here in the midwest. |
