I will be at this one. I am short some supplies before I can go...

Lifeline Vests
Orange Helmets
Radios
Uniforms
Complete guage kit

To mention a few things. So I am looking for supporters that would like to trade advertising for supplies, ... or just money. :)
Just one APBA race, and maybe one GLSCS race for this year. So I am not looking for million dollar sponsors, just support.

I may have some Helmets and Jackets I could let you use

That would be totally sweet!!!!
God, that would save me thousands. Thank you. When the date gets closer, I will bring this up again and see if the offer still stands. Although I would like to own my own set, it would be nice to spend that money elsewhere. Thank you.

Just got word that GLSCS is changing thier rules for P5 class. Apparently they want to make it 24' - 29' Single Engine Cat or V bottom boats only.

I guess that I will be racing APBA this year. Unless the voters turn it down. If there are any voters out there, vote this one down.

I don't think it's a good idea to put restrictions on entry level racing classes. My boat is a 1988 37' twin that weights about 11,000 # and will probably top out (with the new power) at 71 MPH. I sure can't race P4 with that. I need the P5 category to accept me, or I simply won't be able to race GLSCS. It's not about me building a P5 boat that will woop on everyone else. Fact is, my boat is probably too slow to be competitive in P5. It's just about being able to race, and have fun in a competitive environment.
Besides, the GLSCS needs to keep thier class rules as close as the competing associations, and APBA removed thier size restriction for P5 class in 2005. I think GLSCS should follow suit.

Please, if you are going to vote on this, please vote it down.

Joe, some guys are taking P class out of context P class was started to let guys like yourself give offshore racing a try and see if they like it and maybe some day build a Pro Series boat. Alot of guys and not all are now trying to build boats to fit in P class with huge HP, I know alot of teams last year spent a lot more $$$ than we did to run P class and run less races than we did. As I said contact Jim Poplin for your answers. As for the helmets and vest you are more than welcome to use them If I still have them and if I don't I'm sure we can find someone who has some for you to use.

Do these have to be recertified after so many years?

Just asking since many items for drag racing have to - ie: seat belts and etc.

If this is so it may not really be cheaper than buying a new one?
shane b
Yes they do but don't rember how often
cfm
I would check since it's fresh in the mind.. I see racers being told to load back into the trailers because of stuff like this.

Nothing like missing a big race over something you would have easily handled if you knew! :dead: :dead:
BajaIceBreaker
Well, that's probably a good question for the seller. I don't remember anything in the rules about re-certification, but I do remember seeing about inspection. I'll look into it. Thanks for the concern.
P5NAV
Offshore type lifejackets are supposed to be recertified every (2) years. Don't know if the capsule jackets for canopy boats are a different schedule.

Helmets have to have a valid Snell 2000 or similar rating but there isn't an (re)certification schedule. The APBA and GLSCS inspectors checked our helmets for the Snell rating and then looked at them for obvious problems such as cracks, and so forth.
BajaIceBreaker
Got a reply from the seller... he said they were last inspected at an APBA in Toronto in 1999. Are they junk?
T-Bone 00
I believe 2 years ago that the cost to recertify was 75.00 plus shipping. I think that includes a full safety inspection and dry cleaning of it. You might want to call Lifeline and check their rates and what they offer now, but I do know it wont be junk when they send it back to you, they do a great job.
BajaIceBreaker
Thanks. That a good idea. I may be able to save a couple of bucks afterall.

BAJA,

I know ya dont wanna part with your boat, but there is a heck of a deal on a perfect P-5 boat on Scream and fly, 26 Velocity thoroughbred with twin 200 outboards for like $14,000 on scream and flyif I didnt already have the pantera project, I would be all over it, and racing this season, next time I get to that site, I will grab the link.

Actually that boat doesn't fit into the new GLSCS P5 rules change. The new rule requires a single engine.

Actually, I did hear that, is that just GLSCS, or across the board??

If so, we wont have much competition in P5-12 this year :( :(
BajaIceBreaker
APBA allows single or twin. But then again, the rules that are posted on the APBA web site don't have a length restriction. So, you never know.

By the way, today I got the 2005 GLSCS Schedule from the GLOPRA guys at the Cleveland Boat Show.

June 10-12 Cape Code, MA
July 8-10 Mentor, OH
July 29-31 St. Clair, MI
August 10-12 Point Pleasant, NJ
September 2-4 Louisville, KY
September 23-25 Cambridge, MD
October 7-9 Camden, NJ (Championship)
