Any one racing boat's this season ?( other than super series boat's )
It's seem's the most fun time's I have are with the P-class style boats . Any one on this board planning to race even a couple .? If so what ya' got ? :D :D :D
Talk it up . Good clean smack talk is good for the sport . Leave the mean stuff for some where else .
There will be a lot of venues in florida with sbi /apba .
As well there are many planned up north in the OPA michigan and jersey area .
who's racing which site's ? I know we overlap on some , but hey that's the way it is . Just curious which sites we all plan to attend . :D

I'm going to watch and learn. I just got out of an 18yr stint of drag racing motorcycles. Looks like a blast.
I'd like to try it... just bought a 30 Velocity w/hyd ster, K planes and IMCO lowers. Only has 454s tho. What class could I run? Would I be in the way? |

Do not have any pictures left (long story). But this is a pic of a Sanger, when I was fearless I did this. It is an experience you do not forget when you come out of the water and the boat starts to rotate around the crankshaft!
I will sit and watch now. Still love speed and to go fast as often as possible but competition days are over.

depends if I get off my lazy azz, and put a boat together, most likely only run OPA Single outboard, but may run thru the bridge in Marathon again just for kicks, that was a blast :D |

I think out board's are best place to start as they fix quick , and the expense is low. At least they let you know if you want to pursue racing . :D

Looks like I'd have to remove my glass windshield and cleats too? :(
Am I reading this right? I thought the P classes were designed to get guys like me on the race course. I do understand the safety issues but, it seems kind of extream for a pleasure turned race boat.
Seems like everything else I could deal with. |

Go to Home Depot/Lowes and get some pipe foam and some duct tape. Tape up the cleats with the foam and then line the top of your windshield with the foam and tape. I bet you windshield is not glass but a plexi type of glass. If worse comes to wors you can also line your windshiled with a big white vinyl sticker or contact paper. All they want to know is that your windshield will not shatter. However if you take you windshiled off I bet you gain some speed! Been there done that!

Yes Joe. Sorry I missed this post. I'm sure you've seen my reply to you in the other thread.
I'm definatly going to some events this year. Madison, and the St. Clair events for sure. I won't know about racing until I can test the boat and see what she runs.
I'd like to try it, even if I'm only field filler. I just don't want to be in the way;)
Heck OPA is making racing cheaper than Poker Runs! Except for the east side run... I'm definatly going there again.

Mark, You will definately not be in the way, the OPA goes above and beyond with assistance and welcoming new racers. You will be hooked. I have been racing for 6 years and much of that with my Pleasure/race boat.
You will love it and you will be part of a big extended family. |

Why dont you just buy Frankie's old Fountain and get off the shore, its a turn key F1 boat and you have the pop up camper already, you'd be ready to race :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

If so I would love frank's fountain. That is a great boat . I remember it from the Chrysler event we did in orlando area a couple years back . It was the ONLY boat I was not invited to come aboard :eek: LOL.
That is actually where Frank and I became friend's . You as well . :)
I won't be racing any time soon . I am going to lay low , stay outa' you'all's way and try to capture the fun and excitement again. :cool:

What are your feelings about the new engine rule for F1? I believe there are 3 allowed builders so I am wondering how SBI/APBA are going to check that each engine from each builder is no more than 500hp. Whas this brought up at the meeting...will there be a dyno on site?

Fever I personally like the new motor pkg, a lot of the former F1 guys complained (as did I) when LLC made the class a shambles and basically put the class on life support, the owners group decided that if we were to give those guys the option of coming back without spending any money to upgrade/downgrade F1 could possibly be back to where it was. Now those guys have no reason to jump on OSO or here to bitch and moan. Excuses have been eliminated. The only problem I am having now is finding a 500 EFI at a reasonable price so I can replace my 496 HO. It seems as though they have disappeared off the face of the earth. I talked to one guy who was selling one b4 at 12,000 and for some unknown reason, he feels now that it should be 13,000. I guess that motor is so awesome that with age it gains value, like a fine wine.
As far as having the Innovation and the Tyler Crockett motor options, I feel it is good for competition and also keeps the monopoly pricing down. The motors will be sealed with dyno sheets submitted to SBI/APBA and in accordance with the new rules. If someone wants to file a protest that is also dictated in the rulebook as far as procedure to do so.

I cant wait to post pic's again. I asked the mod's here and they said ok go for the pictorial's . Can't wait that's my my best fun. Plus it really helps impregnate the times in my memory.
This will be a great place to do the pictorials this year , as it is very civil here.
Even when problems do arise ( which is part of any racing )we all get back on track . A little humility seems to go a long way here . Thanx again for this site . POO !!!

Nah,
not going to be ready, I am picking up my lower unit tomorrow, but still a long way to go, gonna get it done right, and run at least Key West with Horba, then probably run St Cloud the following year, and take it from there :D
Besides, the Dania Marine Flea Market is the same weekend, and I need some stuff, it is at Dolphins Stadium this year :eek:

After wilma ALL the sand bar's increased in size . I need about an 8 inch draft on plane . I have about 10 now . I f

I traded up for a surf board with a small block chevy on the back diret drive with a surface prop. :shocked:
This is the only long board i do not use the ankle strap on . :D
Talked to steve yesterday . Look's like were gonna' make a play date toward the end of the month. Michael's boat will be done so will steves. I can't wait Those two keep me in stitches laughing the whole time .
