Should the Politics & War Forum be removed from Speedwake. If you say Yes - this would also bring along additional rules that any threads started on Politics and War anywhere on Speedwake would be immediately deleted by the moderators and could result in your being banned.

Just the people who abuse it.

I think it is okay (it doesn't totally bother me if it's gone or stays) however, anyway for it not to be listed when you hit 'View new Posts?'

Sometimes the headline pulls you in to reading the topic. Enough people pizz me off in my 'real world' that it is kinda a 'downer' when you come to SW hoping for a smile and good thoughts and you see some outlandish thread title.
Trojan Express
For what it is worth... I totally agree with CFM here
Kidnova
I vote leave it. I discuss P&R with my family members and friends on occasion. I've never lost a friendship over such discussions. JMHO :)

First off, I don't read the "politics & war" forum because I don't care to, and I have the right to not click on that forum....

However if you're getting rid of forums just because they're not "boating related" then the "Speedwake Unleashed" forum would have to go also and I don't think anyone would want that to happen....

just my $.02

Speaking of 'Unleashed' - what if you have to be a supporting member to be a part of that War & Politics section? And not have it come up when you hit 'View new posts.'

That way no crazy that has nothing to do with boating will post these topics just to post them. If they become a member then atleast they are supporting this place so we can all enjoy it more/longer?

Also, people 'surfing' will not get turned off by the site and not want to become a member.

Thanks BI for putting this thought in my mind. At first thought this may be a good way to do it?

Watcha' think ?
Sacandaga
That's a good idea cfm. Actually, and people will think I'm crazy for saying this, I think the entire forum should be paid. I certainly would not mind paying a small annual membership for access to everything. Kind of like a magazine subscription.

i love it ! cfm . why don't you run for prez or something :D
Sacandaga
Yeah, I hear ya. The supporter option is nice. You end up with some cool stuff too. :D

this being a boating site

i don't go to politics forum. unless its politics that effects boating like noise control, speeds etc...

politics and religion is always fuel for a fire. but makes for good reading sometimes.

Take it or leave it. If I don't like the content, I move on anyway.

I think we're all adults here and can make decisions for ourselves.

I personally don't care about it. But I have to admit it can be some interesting reading at times when someone posts something off the wall without doing their homework on the subject and just state their personal feelings on the issue. Without delay, that is when another member will jump on the original poster's neck with both feet to challenge the issue. Then it's open season and let the games begin. :angry1: :laugher:
For the individuals that come on this site just to spew their CRAP and try to pizz other members off,I personally think that they would never say this crap to someone in person for fear of having the SNOT beaten out of them. But they are comfortable acting like an idiot safely behind their computer monitor.

It's your call Jeff and I support any decision you deem appropiate. :winker:
Zen_Nemo
I find it interesting reading most times, but get real tired of certainf people who only post there, and not contribute to any other part of the form.

Gotta go with RJ on this one

DS I completely agree with you on this point:

Leave it in, I don't HAVE to read it. I also like the idea of it not showing up on the "view new posts" search.

Sounds good. I already have my speech done for inauguration. It starts like this:

"Thank you my fellow Americans. First thing I want to say is No Speed Limits On any Body of Water........."

That should go over like a loud fart in Church. :dead:

Leave it up.

Never looked at it.....................

Interesting...pretty close either way so far(with the voting).
dave4151
Is removing it the only thing we can do to save people from themselves? Opinions are like A holes, everybody’s got one. It’s your fault if you let them get to you, not the person posting, not the moderator for leaving it up.

I’m all for the poll, lets take a Democratic vote and let the majority rule.

Where’s the choice “I don’t care, I’m just here for the boating”
Stingray69
Will people be mad about the new rules that replace the removed W&P section, next?
rogue2800
Leave it, it keeps the loonies from taking up space and time on the boating forums.

You talking to me , Tom ?? :D :D

I agree, leave it...When boaters get together we talk about more than boats. If you dont want to read it...Dont {I'm trying to follow that advice :D }
Mopower
Never looked at it. I get enough of that bullchit from TV and newspapers...I come here to get away from it :)
noise pollution
I don't really care myself. I've never looked at it. I have the choice just like watching TV. On or Off. I come here to look and try to read :) about boat related things.
CWaters
either way Jeff. this is one fantastic site and all of the people here are after one thing....a great boating site!
i don't have to read it if i don't want to.

i do like the not appearing with new posts idea though.

Great site!!!!!!!
chjohn
The problem here is if we vote to get rid of the forum we are only doing so because of a minority of members do not understand the distinction between open honest debate and spewing hatred and vileness with no regard to others rightful points of view.

A Democratic vote really is not a truthful assessment of this issue. To get rid of the forum we are letting the minority that cause the problems rule. I know that it is difficult for the moderators and owner of the site to police the issue but when we punish everyone because of a few, they are winning!

Leave it up. Those that refuse to behave....BOOT THEIR BUTT!!!! And good riddance.
chjohn
BTW.....Jeff, it does not matter how we all vote. You own Speedwake, do what you feel is best. :D
ingvey
I think it will only make people angry. I seldom see folks talk about politics with open minds and interest. It only tends to make people angry and pull away. I just don't think it will enhance this pleasure forum.
gsxr
Leave it up. Why would we want to censor ourselves? When politics and religion are discussed the people who are ignorant of these subjects are reminded of that fact and feel bad. Rather than bring themselves up to speed thay wish we'd go back to talking about football. If they censor enough that's all that will be left.
ghart
Pretty sad, having over 10,000 members and only 57 interested enough to vote.

Can't tell you exactly, but it was not long at all. The first time I saw the poll, I could not vote.

Oh well. it is a beautiful weekend!!! :D
ghart
You do the same. I'm going to "smoke" the Libby this afternoon. Might get it out for a quick run to see if it wintered OK.
