This is the start of the SBI/APBA season.

This is Truly ! A big water event . Right off of South Beach . Plenty of room to put up an umbrella mix some drink's and enjoy the show .

South Florida is a great place to watch a race . It's Warm It's wet , and it's sandy . ENJOY if you show up .

SBI/APBA is growing strong .As you read of boat racing slacking off due too (whatever issue is on the table that day )rest assured We are still here and will be after the others move on.

We race South florida for the sun ,the rough water ,and the Sun, and the Rough Water , and .................. :D

Count me in Mike,

Mike,

Maybe you can run over to JC's and ask him to release the long awaited news concerning our new tv pkg. I have a potential sponsor that we have thrown proposals back and forth but we cant finalize anything(good, bad, or indifferent) until he knows the tv deal. We'll be in Miami, but on the skin of our a$$'e$, gotta love racin, maybe because its such a challenge on and off the course is the reason why I love it so much.

SBI is not in good shape dont try to kid anyone here. Boat count is lower than it has ever been and the only races are in Florida. SBI is going about this all wrong, OPA and OSS both run multiple states for more exposure. They also run in or near the major markets for more opportunities for the race sponsors to be seen. Did anyone ever think NASCAR would be mainstream NO they thought it was a regional southern sport because most of the races were in the southeast. Cant you see SBI is making the same mistake. I dont care if there is any unification, to better the organization move some of the darn races out of Florida.

I really hope that SBI/APBA makes the same mistakes. NASCAR isnt mainstream? I would sure love to know what is in your Koolaid. And please, what major market does the new OSS/OPA run near? Miami? New York? Raleigh/Durham Research Triangle? Ft Lauderdale?

Also, is China far enough from Florida for you? Also SBI/APBA sanctioned 3 or 4 races in California last year, is that far enough? Your right, unification will never happen, SBI/APBA will just keep plugging away like they have for 25 years now and other clubs will just come and go. History proves that. Is SBI/APBA perfect? By any means no, but all they do is go forward and things just keep getting better and better.

I had better stop now, this forum might just turn into the other racers forum, a joke, and I sure dont want that to happen.

Please read the post carefully I said NASCAR wasn't mainstream until they started moving races out of the southeast to get more exposure for the series. The major markets OSS/OPA run near are as follows, Detroit, Boston, Las Vegas, Toronto, New York, Cleveland and DC. Not to mention Puerto Rico. I am a supporter of offshore racing and the racers. I am NOT a supporter of any one organization.

PS I like Tropical Punch Koolaid

Great points but as History shows back in the Hay Day of APBA befor the OSS boycot you had over 100 teams at each Pro series race and 20-40 teams at the divisional level which included POPRA and GLSCS. I believe those were the days of offshore racing, you had ORGANIZED boat raceing all over the country Now were left with a buch of splinter groups all trying to pull from a small group of racers.

I couldnt agree more with what you said Shane. I compare the current state of offshore is like the open wheel racing split. I was a huge open wheel fan back in the 80s and early 90s now with the split I will watch Indy and thats about it. I dont want SBI sit back and only race in Florida go out and promote other venues I loved going to races where the boat count was over a hundred with two great days of racing action. There are fans all over this country of offshore powerboat racing they just need to reach out and get those fans.
shane b
I think the reason you see SBI racing mostly in Florida is because JC gets PAID for his race sites he dosn't necessarily depend on sponsors and teams to pony up the $$$$ to put on races as the other organizations do , for that I commend him. I myself enjoy traveling to Florida for the races exspecily in April-May and Sept- Nov as its normally chilly dooring those months in most of the country.

I also like racing OFFSHORE not on lakes and rivers ( The Great Lakes Does get pretty dam big though :D )
skaterguy
I agree early in the year and late in the year the races should be in the warmer climates.

I post on this forum because OSO is out of control. I like to post things that are constructive and I dont try to offend anyone.

This is a real good discussion.....I believe the 1st organization that can profit from offshore racing and use that profit to grow the organization will ultimately succeed. Nothing new with my thoughts though.
