27 vs 29 with same power               >>> CLICK HERE FOR THE ORIGINAL THREAD <<<

I was just wondering what the difference in speed is between the 27 and 29 fevers with the 525 in em. Also the price difference.
Thanks,
Dan

29 will be about 78-80. 27 not as fast but more squirrley. My 29 was a little loose above 75.
bellofello
what year was your 29? Also I was wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about if and when they might update the hull design on the fevers?

29 definitely faster, the newer ones have a higher x dimension and run faster, raced my buddies 27 with an hp500 vs my 502 efi damn near neck n neck maybe 2mph tops, i was blown away!

03 with a 575
Fever Mike
Dirtlawyer on here had a 1998 with a 525sci. When he got it he was no faster than my 2000 29 HP500. He did some pulley work and and raised the drive height and I think saw 77 or so. Maybe he will come on here and tell you the exact numbers.
I do know the 525sci boats are slow out of the hole because that 454 supercharged engine does not get going as quick as a HP500-525.
bellofello
525sci? do you mean a 575... or a 525efi, or a 525 with an aftermarket blower?
Fever Mike
525sci was a 454 block with a blower that produced 500hp at the prop.

I ran my neighbor who had a 1999 27 Fever with a HP500 carb and I had a 2000 29 with a HP500 carb. I out ran the 27 all the time. We traded boats and he outran me in my boat. The 29 is much better balanced and has a lot more R&D on the hull.

For what is is worth, I run a 27 with 425 hp and can run 70 with full fuel all day long on gps. So from my old theories, with 525 hp, a 27 should run about 75 mph. My goal is if I keep this boat is to be in the 80 mph range in a few years. :)

looks like a tight fot for the blower pulley...

i know they start blueprinting the hulls on the 29 and up, dunno if that is why they run better.

Blueprinting is only part of it. The 29's and up are also hung in the air and the balance is checked and adjusted. Plus the 29 for example has more R&D on the hull design than the 27. If you look at the step and the strakes on the 27 vs the 29 you will see a difference. This is the same reason the 35 is faster than the 32 Fountain.

o that makes more sense, i was comparing hulls between mine and a friends 27 and they were a lot different, the step and everything. we both have the same shortblocks, but he has hp500 heads , cam and intake ported, and CMI's and beat me by 1-2 mph.
Fever Mike
Well, stock 27 vs 29 boat and engine the 29 will be faster. I know that seems weird but that is the way it is.
