I know this is not boating related, but this is important.
There is a very convincing email circulating that may arrive in your in-box asking you to log into your Paypal account and update some information. It starts off like this "
quote: Dear PayPal Customer, We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this
DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK IN THE EMAIL MESSAGE!!!!!
The email is very convincing and the link and site look JUST LIKE PAYPAL'S SITE - THEY ARE BOGUS!!! |

my guess is this:
1) they have your login name and password
2) they start withdrawing money from your account and transferring it to their account(s).
that's all you need to do.
This brings up an important point. Personally you should not link paypal accounts to accounts where you keep large sums of money. I have a separate checking account setup that I use for paypal transactions. There's never more than a few hundred dollars in it so my risk is limited. You should consider the same.

| Wow, scary! I didn't link my PayPal account to my checking account... right now it's set up with a credit card with a minimal available balance. |
