| I dont think boats our size are still rated like that?????? |

My Formula isn't.
There isn't any specified number on the little plate. Now going by seating...5 , can sqeeze 6 (4 in the back seat) |

| It must vary by state. Last fall my neighbor was fined for having his Baja overloaded. He had 10 aboard and the boat is rated for 7. I believe his boat is a 27 footer. :) |

| By whom was the boat rated? Most boats over 21 feet are not coast guard capacity rated. Not required. I based my answer on seating capacity. |

Never saw a rating on the Sunsation, but have had 8 adults, w/ enuf jackets:laugher: :laugher:
SAFTEY FIRST!!!

Unless its on the tag, I think you can rate your own capacity here.
I know when I've boughten boats in Texas and brought them here I had to fill in my own capacities. Guess I need to do more checking with the DNR. :confused1
This is how the regulation for Iowa reads :
The passenger capacity number, as assigned by the DNR, shall be painted on or attached to the starboard side of the vessel within nine inches of the transom. It shall conform in size and color to the numbers and letters on the bow. The number of persons shown on the manufacturer's capacity plate is to be placed on the registration certificate and on the right side of the boat as outlined above. If there is no plate, then the capacity of the boat is "operator's responsibility" and the letters "OR" must be placed on the certificate and on the boat in place of the number. |

| I can fit 5 and its rated for 10, 10 people in a 20' boat with a small cabin ;) |

My 21'4" Baja Hammer says 6 is the capcity. A friend's 20' Crownline bow rider says 10. Go figure. Here in Iowa we are supposed to post our capacity on the right rear side of the boat. Many say OR which means owner responsibility. If you do not have a coast guard tag that specifies, then I guess you can get away with the OR rating. The Coast Guard must consider the number of seats, as I think my Hammer is more sea worthy than the Crownline bow rider.

| If I can't fit all of my friends in my boat, then I tell them it's time to get their own and stop leaching off me! |

there is enough room in my boat for anyone that is paying for gas :)
BTW, Breast size and choice of attire waive most rights to the gas purchase :)
Gotta be legal?? why legal, its not like our boats are totally LEGAL anyway :) |

| I have 14 adult life vests, and 8 child life vests on board. That's the only legal limitation that I am aware of. |

| 27' Cobalt Bowrider here...says it is "yacht certified", which I understand means there is no capacity limit, technically, but I rarely have more than 10 and usually half of the ten are kids. |

My Liborator has seating for five. I need more "people room" in the next boat. That's why I'm in the market for a decent express cruiser.
I saw this one advertised locally, anybody know anything about a Sea Ray 31 Sun Sport? |

| Can safely hold 7-8, 6 is good 4 is best. I never had more than 6 people on board. On a rough day, I don't feel comfortabe with more than four. |
