| Reggies unlimited boat with 2x1550's beat our Super Cat in Key West at the worlds. The sea's were not as large as normal for this years races so speeds where up. Our 750's just could not get it done. We had fun all week telling them we were just playing with them until Sunday's race. Not saying we could out run them just push them into breaking. |

hmmmmmm let's see 2 x 1500 = 3000 hp; 2 x 750 = 1500 hp... that sounds like a fair comparison....
I'm not bashing Fountain boats, they are definitely a well built boat and Reggie puts a lot of money into R&D and it pays off... however, I am really getting tired of their overinflated ego's when it comes to "who's fastest". How about a fair comparison/race? I think that few would argue the point that a cat is faster than an equal sized v when equipped with similar power, except in rough seas. Its a simple matter of physics and hydrodynamics - air entrapment hulls are more effecient tha v hulls. Not saying they are better, as each have their own benefits.
Anyone read the latest issue of Hotbaot and the comments of the test drivers on whether they preferred a v or a cat? Pretty interesting reading - most agreed that a cat is better for speed but that a v is a better all around boat.
Anyhow, off my soapbox. Just hoping that this does not turn into a "Cat Killer" thread.... |

Yeah that is a bit of a streatch of marketing by Fountain ya think?!?!?! It is getting a bit old too. Unfortuantly many many boaters are not informed like we are on these forums and they will believe what is advertised. I see this in more than just the boating industry. |

Like the auto, airline, housing, and appliance industries
At least we have it better now with these internet forums. 10 years ago, the wool over people's eyes was pretty thick. It's getting thinner, but still opaque. |

| I own a Fountain they are very fast :devious: I also sponser a Fountain at racesIT IS A VERY GOOD MARKETING TO SAY THEY BEAT CAT BOATS :yawn:I"m shure they have in some cases but equal power its doubtful? He has made some adjustments with hull and engine placement so if your cat is not breaking the century mark you will have a problem with new Fountains :bigsmile:I also believe theV-HULL is better in big water depending on size of cat  |

| Slandrew who's Fountain do you sponser? We will watch to see how they do this year. |
