I can give an objective answer. I'm very realistic about the value of my boat. I know what "I'd like" it to be worth and then I know what it's really worth.
It's the folks that think they're boats are worth astronomical values that wind up bitter, disappointed and still sitting on their boats that have been for sale for over a year that are not realistic.
When it comes to luxury items such as boats you've got to go into it with eyes wide open and come to grips with the fact that no matter how well you take care of it and how much money you sink into it...IT GOES DOWN IN VALUE. The only way a boat ever goes up in value is if you buy a beater for a song, get the replacements parts at salvage yard prices and value your time at nothing...that's about the only way to ever come out ahead.
They only guys that make money on boats are dealers and brokers and it's because we own the asset, we make the payments, we pay the insurance and they take the profit and we take the hit. I'm not saying they don't provide a valuable service because they do. They have exposure and we don't.
However the internet and forums such as this have opened up the world to us and potential buyers....especially ebay. Just think of the hundreds of thousands of people you can reach nowadays.
my local Wellcraft dealer has had an old tattered sign up in his showroom for years: "No Cash No Splash"...
all that said... I'll take the hit financially just as long as I can get out on the water :) |

| Well said Jeff, but I was just funnin ya, pointing out that difference between what WE think (wish) our boats are worth and what we could actually sell them for. Sometimes a rather large discrepancy. :D |

| Hey , now I have a baja and it's been the best money I've ever spent on a toy, well on one the whole family can enjoy.Like the mastercard or visa comercial looking at half naked women (well sometimes naked) or my son smileing priceless.For the gas to run the boat there's mastercard. |

| when it was bought buy the first owner he piad 41,000 to have it custome built, I got about 17,000 in it so I guess I didnt do to bad...290 hours and is a 94 model. |

| I like to think it's worth more then I paid for it.... I believe todays market is a buyers market. Lots of bigger boats out there cheaper today then they were two years ago. |
