Party Forums-how often do you visit               >>> CLICK HERE FOR THE ORIGINAL THREAD <<<
Ms. PatriYacht
One of the reasons I enjoy these boating websites is so I can find out what is happening in both the waters where we boat and even in other areas of the country.
So silly as this might seem, I hardly ever check the seperate forums for the parties and runs. I was wondering if I am the only one that does not remember to read that forum. I like to come on the General Dis and scroll down all the threads and quickly preview the ones I might be interested in. I guess I would rater flip through three pages than flip to differnt forums.

Is the board really that over run with new threads that something as important as a boating get together and a race can't be on the general disscussion for at least a week:(

I just checked on my own question :D there are some threads that are still on my first page in the GD area that were last posted on in the early yesterday. That would lead me to think that the board is not that busy that offshore get to gethers could not be left up for at least a week.

I typically hit "view new posts" when I first get on the sight, then scroll general discussions and off topics after I have looked through the new posts since my last visit.

Posts in every discussion or Topic area show up.

did the "fun run" post you were putting together for 18-19th get moved?? is that the reason for this poll?? just asking because my wife and i were thinking about joining you fine people and i don't see the post now.

yes that is the reason. Unfortuantely like you I don't always have the time to look in all the individual forums. If I am looking for info about a specific event I may look in the party forum, but if I did not know an event was happening there is a good chance I would miss it. I was wondering if it is just me or do others feel the same way.

Everyone on this forum should have an opinion on this topic so please take a moment to vote on the poll, thanks

My thoughts EXACTLY !

I have clicked on the "events" forum maybe 3 or 4 times in 5 years.....

I just simply don`t go there, I have actually kinda forgot about it.

If you click on 'View New Posts' that will show you all new posts in all forums since your last visit... that way you don't have to check each individual forum.

I realize that feature is available, but for whatever reason, I simply do not utilize it.

I usually only frequent 4 forums :
General Boat Discussion
Technical
Open Forum
Eat My Wake

I usually do not find anything that interests me in the other forums. Well, of course there`s "UNLEASHED" !!! :winker:

Something that I really like that is on most other forums that I`m a member of, is that each time I log on, the new posts are in BOLD. Is that something that could be done to Speedwake ?
blackhawk
I didn't even know we had that forum!

IMO this site is too small(not saying it's a bad thing) for all the sub-forums.

Possibly, but new posts in a thread always cause the thread to rise to the top of the page, and a blue arrow icon appears to the left of the thread title... this arrow indicates that there's new posts since your last visit. And on the Main Forums page, there's a tachometer icon that revs beside forums that contain threads with new posts since your last visit... do you really need more than that? :)

Actually . . . . . . .

I would love to have a hot chick rubbing my feet and another hottie bringing me cold beers while I am on Speedwake.

Ditto!

I couldnt imagine anyone doing it differently! As soon as you come onto the main home page, just click view new posts in the upper left side of the screen..
Cant get much easier than that! ;) :p: :p: :p:

I would have voted, but I didn't see, "I didn't know it existed" as an option. :(
Ms. PatriYacht
cuda, I think you would be safe in voting for 2, since it sounds like you never look in that fourm.

It was the closest, but I honestly did not know that section existed.

Sorry to hear about your electronic ignition problems this weekend. :(
cuda
Donna, it looks like another one of your posts got moved. I did know the "Polls" section existed, although I've never once opened it.
Ms. PatriYacht
I have been using the new post button so I would not have noticed it. IMHO having a forum just for polls is just about the dumbest forum I have heard of, who the heck would look in their regularly. When a web site is not that busy to me it just delutes it to have so many places to skip around to. I can understand a GD boat discussion, off topic, uncensorded, technical, classified, boat brand section, and clubs. But to me that would sum it up. If I was a new user coming on here and I saw that there were a bunch of posts on the first page that were several days old I would immediately think that it was not a very active website. But since I am not planning on starting a web site of my own, I will just deal with it. Of course maybe I am just ornery because we had to miss our most fun and biggest poker run of the season :( I cleand the oven and Ian cut the grass, not what we thought we would be doing this afternoon.
greeneyedbeacher
It's the people who make the website, not the format. Anyone who feels compelled to pass judgement on a site based on their opinion of how busy it is should check their level of contribution to it first.

The separate forums were created in respose to good suggestions from members - not criticism or complaints. The beauty of SW is that adjusts to changing times and members' needs.

Now that you know the forums exist, visit them and post in them... you'll be surprised how much 'busier' the site will become. :)
