1st Annual Thomas J Wilson Fun Run & Auction for Leukemia - 7/24/2010

This will be the 1st Annual Thomas J Wilson Boating Fun Run & Auction for Leukemia.

Saturday July 24th , 2010 - North East MD - Chesapeake Bay

The cost to enter a boat in the on-water portion of the day will be $50 to cover lunch for two and make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Facebook Signup Page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/...5848082&ref=mf

If you can't make or are not interested in the boating portion come to the Auction Dinner on Saturday night - you won't be sorry!

All proceeds from this event and auction benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The run will leave the Anchor Marine in North East at 10:30 am and proceed to the Wild Duck Restaurant on the Middle River for lunch, then return in the afternoon.

After lunch we will cruise back across the bay and raft up at Jellyfish Joel's for an hour or two before heading back to North East.

That evening the Steak & Main Restaurant in North East (2 blocks from the Marina) will host an Auction and Fund Raiser starting at 7 PM.

Non boaters and boaters are encouraged to use this forum for boaters to arrange for non-boaters to ride with them to lunch. If you cannot make the run that day we want you at the Auction that night.

Anyone with anything of value, personal items, gift certificates, sporting event tickets, diamonds , skilled labor, etc are encouraged to donate these items for the auction. Last year I ran a similar auction to benefit MS and we raised over $13,000 in one evening and WE WILL DESTROY THAT RECORD THIS YEAR.

Tom Wilson was my best friend for over 20 years of my adult life. Tom was the founder and Chief Instructor of the Black Belt Academy in West Chester, Pa. Tom is survived by his wife Carol, two daughters, Caroline and Connor and a son Thomas (who is my god son). Tom touched the lives of thousands of people in the over 30 years he ran the school. I met Tom in 1986 when I began training in Tae Kwon Do at his school at age 32. I still train and teach at the school today at age 56.

Tom was diagnosed with Leukemia in September 2007 and fought a courageous 2.5 year battle that inspired everyone. Tom passed away in March 2009. He was a remarkable friend, mentor, man and father. With your help and support a cure for Leukemia can be attained in our lifetime.

Please come out and support this event. The on-water portion begins at 10 am that morning and Auction Dinner at Steak & Main begins at 7 pm that night.

Hit up all of your friends, yourselves and every business owner you know for auction items. Nothing is insignificant. Every donation is tax deductible. For instance, I donated a motorcycle from my collection last year and will donate another this year for the Auction.

Tom's wife and kids will be on hand that day riding with us on our boat.

This run is open to cruisers, center console, sport boats, ski boats, performance boats etc - run wacha brung!

I hope you'll be able to make it and please post pics of Tom on this page if you have any.

We'll have a Helicopter on hand that day for aerial photos of your boats too!

thanks

With out a doubt Jeff, we will be there!! I'll try and work on some ideal's for the auction.

For the ones thats thinking on doing this event, make up a few flyers and pass them around to your neighbors, friends, co-workers to make a donation. Just a idea on how to raise money for a great cause.

Believe Me, its a great way to raise money for the cause! My wife and I did the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA poker run with the CBPBA 4 years straight, and in those 4 years, just the 2 of us raised $17,500.00 handing out plain old paper flyers!

$1.00 is better than 0, every little bit HELPS!
