have 1989 28 scarab excel just built a 600 hp big block with a bravo what type of speed am I looking at ????

also whats the boat weigh with fuel and driver e.c.t.without knowing the weight ill go with around 74mph.

If I remember correct 10mph for every 100hp to a point.
I went from 87 to 93 with around 100hp increase however.

I've heard and personally experienced 1 mph per 20 hp

Problem is , Ya always want more

was s standard 454/365 bravo w/23 mirage 4400 rpm approx speed 64 on speedo. also addin a nose cone. would love to see 74 mph !!!!

My (very) rough calculations say that you should see 75 on the speedo easily. I don't think a nose cone will have any positive effect at these speeds however. Let us know how it works out.

I went from about 57 mph on 330 hp, to about 70 mph with 500 hp. About a 13 mph gain with 170 hp increase. That's on gps . Speedo readings were/are quite a bit different.

I think you should be right around there once you get your prop dailed in

bravo1 s will read 5 mph to fast on the speedo, get a hand held gps that way after the run you can look at your max mph

I have an 88 28 excel gil dry pipes, MSD therm. crossover, around 600 lift cam, 800 double pumper, roughly 550 hp, with an Imco stubby lower unit absolute fastest with a 24 Bravo 1 was 72.8 gps

I don't think a thing I tried a 23 mirage cavitated like a *******, tried a 22 bravo1 much better, pretty much the same speed then colder weather came I messed with timing and ended up with the 24 Bravo1, over the winter I'm rebuilding and supercharging so it's back to the drawing board.
