Here is what I have narrowed my list down to. Any one have experience w/ these? Keep in mind, I am NOT a professional, I just do not want to regret not spending a bit more $$$ in the future for the camera that has a few more features.

CAMERA # 1
Olympus stylus 400
4 megapixel
3X optical
Lithium battery

OR

Cannon A-80
4 megapixel
3x optical
AA batery's
Cool swivel screen

OR

Sony Cybershot
5 megapixel
3x optical
lithium battery (I think)

CAMERA #2
Olympus C-750
4 megapixel
10x optical zoom (I like more zoom)
AA battery's

Let's hear it, what would you buy? I am getting 2 camera's (gifts).

I have the C-720 and it takes excellant pictures! Same as the 750, but with 3.1 megapixal. The optical zoom is fantastic. I use 4 rechargable batteries and have gotten over 100 pictures and they still were going strong. That was using the LCD too. Only down side to these is the size. Do to the external lens, it is not the most convienent to carry. Also need a real steady hand, or pictures get blurred.
I also carry the HP100 mini printer on the boat and use an inverter to operate. People freaked at 1st when I had instant pictures while in the middle of the lake. I took this picture with my C-720. When zoomed up close, the detail is unbelievable.

You can't beat the prices or selection of B&H Photo online.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com

I have purchased all kinds of things there with great results.
Nobody could touch BHPHOTO's price for my Canon G3. They are a huge store in NewYork with a selection and customer service second to none. Bestbuy, Ritz, Circuit City, all over $100 more than BHPHOTO for 3 different cameras I was looking at. Also beware of online stores (aside from BHPHOTO), I have heard a few bad stories.

Thanks for the input IMP!

I went with a Nikon 950 with the swivel body a couple years back from Ritz Camera. There is a local store down the street from me, plus they have a webstore.

Why I like the swivel body is because you can take a pic of an object at any height standing verticle...
Sorta like the cam corders with the tilt screens..

Flash can suck the life from the AA batteries...
Compact flash card was common...
9" tri-pod.. and I'm outta here!

:freak1:

Does anyone have an opinion on the HP945. It has 5.3 mpix with a total zoom of 54. I am thinking of buying it in the next couple of days for my own present. I don't know much about cameras to start with and even less about digital. I just want a good camera for the lake and poker runs.
