Here is what is going to seal the deal:

If you buy the baja you can register as a member of the Baja Marine owners club. With that you get a sticker and a 0% discount on all of the Baja gear you want. That's right, 0% off everything. But it sure is a great sticker.

Is there really anything else to consider now? You can thank me later.

For the kind of money you are spending, you should be able to heck of a lot more boat than a 232. The price doesn't sound like any great deal either with that many hours. All the prices you see online are asking prices. I would be surprised if on most of them you could not walk away paying 10-20% less than asking. If the boats are at a dealer, they are marked up to allow for trades.
I would only buy new if I was ordering something custom. A new boat will depreciate 25% in the first 3 or so years. The older it is, the slower it will depreciate. Just because a boat is newer, does not mean it will be more reliable or not have problems.

Forget MSRP's. Nothing sells close to it.

Crownline's are decent boats, but have a 21* deadrise or less and a 202 will beat the crap out of you in anything more than 1' chop. I had a 196 and a friend has a 202 with a 300hp BB. Its a 2000 he bought new and paid around 38k for. Also solid red will be hot and way more difficult to keep looking good than white with graphics.

If I was going to spend in the 35k range, I would look for a 98-99 25 Outlaw. It 3.5 feet more boat than the 232.
I agree with Griff on the pricing and especially the color, however, my Crownline 266ltd has a 24 degree deadrise. It was a limited production boat and I'm not sue what the smaller new models have. Bottom line, for the price of the 232 Baja you could buy a very clean low hour larger boat that you will find more satisfying.

Was asking 44,600 But have made a few payments since then. It's a 24 degree bottom approx 120 Hrs. Jeff has seen the boat and can attest to the condition.
absolutely.. I can attest that this boat is beautiful, excellently maintained and this maniac was actually up earlier than me wiping off the dew... and that's saying something!!!!!

:)

Run as fast as you can. Save your money and sanity.

Or

Join the rest of us idiots and blow every dime you got on a boat. :laugher:

Sounds like you want the Baja anyway and it is the Johnny Bravo, Hans and Frans, Tough Guy, Babe Magnet of the three. :D Could'nt Resist :D

As for the respect thing. aaaaa, the Baja guys around my are usually the ones that don't understand the NO WAKE ZONES and like blasting off from a dock full of parked boats.

You Know, the ole "Speed Changes You" Thing.

:laugher: :laugher:

It seems to me that the baja is the only boat I can get in this category on my budget in the model year range I would like to stay with.

touchy subject sounds like a good boat, right now I am following a lead on a 01 232 that has merc warranty until 07, if that fails then I will get in touch with you.

I like the "image" the baja has, but the image for me is that it is different than anything else in my area.

I am not sure what will transpire, but I keep telling myself I have a few more months to work this out and I don't have to do anything today.

A deal will come my way, I have set up my boat buying command center. On the wall I have put up print outs of every ad that sparks my interest. I am calling and keeping notations of every call on each ad. That way at the end of the day i can keep my head straight about what deal is with what boat.

jb,

I get the feeling that you have a passionate hatred for Baja.

Just a stab in the dark.
Not at all! The comment was made to point out that ...Usually the only gripe you get from a Baja owner is that there is one just like his at almost every dock he goes to...

Nothing passionate or in Hatred about that.
Who knows , maybe someday I will own one. You never say never

The 232's are a nice boat. My wife has been on my azz to buy one for years, and I would if she made any money :laugher:. If I remember correctly, they priced out higher than the H2X new. Something about the higher freeboard and bolsters brought the price up.

The Baja compaired to the others you posted will have a better ride due to it's deeper V in wavey conditions.

The 200 hours wouldn't bother me just as long as the rest of the boat checks out.

Good luck in your search!

Oh yeah, a few years back at a boat show I was given a price of 35k on a trailer for a 2000 232 Boss brand new. It was a leftover and was loaded up pretty good. They also had a 232 islander for pretty much the same price but didn't have the boss package but was a current years model. Mind you this was in 2001.

I think you can get a better deal than they are offering. :)

jb, in this area the only boat dealer within 30 miles sells crownline. Head to Pittsburgh or to Maryland and you will begin to find a selection. The two main dealers are woods boat house in Fairmont WV, and Bills marina in deep creek MD. Woods only sells crownline, and bills deals with Cobalt, Four Winns, and Bayliner. There is also a rinker dealer in Deep Creek. It is such a land locked area and with seasonal weather there is a limited market. There are actually no natural lakes in WV, all are man made. The boat show i attended was the Pittsburgh boat show, the real value of the show for me was to be able to get the listings of all of the dealers in a few hundred mile radius.
