speaking of old chevy's. I grew up about two miles from Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins shop.... I was a Ford and Plymouth guy growing up. One of my best friends Bill "Moon" Labor had a screamin 56 Chevy - very very fast - probably the fastest local car. I still remember stopping traffic on I95 in Chester, Pa. one night so he could race another local guy with a Hemi Road Runner....

pk, who won?
Bills flat blue 56 Chevy spanked the Road Runner. The Chevy ran low 11's.... it was a screamer....and Bill was a good driver...

I can't remember the guys name who owned the RR - but it was painted up and called "unchained" and he was sreaming on Bill at the local burger joint that night and Bill shut him up on I95.

of course Bill returned to the burger joint triumphant and the owner of the RR dissappeared for a few weeks...

Back in my street racing days there was a guy that drove a '69-70 AMC AMX Javelin. The hood was always padlocked shut, would never open it in public. Across the trunk was painted "If you wanna play, you're gonna pay!". Sticking out the rear was a set of wheelie bars and tucked underneath was a Dana 60 rear end. Rumor had it that he had a large BBC under the hood. I only saw him run once and those wheelie bars were put to good use. He could carry the front wheels in first gear and hop it going into second.
I never ran him. He was way out of my league.

The undisputed king around here at that time, and also the fastest damn car I ever rode in was a 69 Chevelle. We still don't know what he had under the hood. He was a big goofy looking nerd that went by the name "Bubbles". Never saw him beat. We used to go out to Tierra Verde back when nothing was out there and had the big grude matches. There was only one way in and one way out. One time the police blocked off the road on our way back and made every single one of us go through a safety check. It was the only thing they could get us for. :)

Today there is nothing but million dollar homes and condos along that same road. :(

I Likey,

I guess my Name gives away my answer :D :D :D

Dont like the 70's due to the headlights, and small square taillights, and the fact that they produced a gazillion chevelles that year!!!!
I wondered how long until you got on this thread! It's right in you wheel house! :D

I just called my mom to ask her if she had any other pictures of my Mach I. She said she sure does. :) My cousin from Ohio is visiting over there and he is coming over so I told mom to send the pics with him. :D

Hey mosi, this was a 69 Stage 1 I just sold the other day.
Looks like the style all right--- I'm probably wrong but I thought the 455 stage one came out in 1970. I thought Buick had a position of not putting anything over 400 ci in the M/C prior to '70. anyho--- it got people's attention--- still today one of the best buys out there for Muscle cars :D
