O.K make sure you check the weight and registration for your truck and boat , last year I was ticketed for towing over weight ( f150 4x4 , 288 sunsation) the officer put me on the portable scales and ticketed me $350 at the end of it all . So I upped the registration weight which now required me to fill out a log book get an extra registration card , and yearly safeties , safety no problem but I`m not filling out a log book to drive my f150
yesterday I got caught running a yellow / red light , the officer saw I had the weight increased and asked for my extra registration and logged book , Don`t have - so he gave me tickets for : red light $190 , not signing back of truck owner ship $110, no log book $390 , no CVO Registration $315 =$1005.00 , so I went to the ministry of transport , discussed it with them and they recommended dropping the reg. weight , I did , now in the spring I have to bring the truck, boat and trailer to a weigh station and get it all weighed and registered to the exact weight. I guess I`ll start again in the spring.

Sorry to here about your bad luck first born. Must have got a cop having a bad day & just wanted to share it with you! :( I thought you got the CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration) last year when you put the safety on your old truck?

I got the form I never sent it in , I went to 3 mto offices yesterday and 2 police stations , and the 2 tickets for cvor etc can be wiped out with in 72 hrs if I can correct the problem but all the offices I went to nobody could tell me what I had to do , any ideas?

The only office in Ottawa that knows anything about CVOR registration is the office on Walkley Rd. Go in & ask for a commercial inspector sit down with him (her) & they should be able to point you in the right direction. I don't know anyone at that office anymore.

Good luck....

Ya I did that yesterday , a guy there explained alot and he is the one that suggested dropping my reg down so the extra`s are not required , at least until I weigh everything in the spring , he gave me his card and said if the ticketing officer wanted to call him that would be cool with him - ticketing officer won`t return my phone calls tho.
spectra boy : thanks for the offer , I hope it doesn`t break ya.....

O.K. NO MORE SHOTS ON MY COUNTRY!!!

Now that thats out of the way, Our system isn't orginized at all when it come to personal vehicles and trailers. For Tony (firstborn) to through that $hit and for an MTO (Ministry of Transportaion) officer to tell him to lower his registered truck wieght, and he will be fine. There is a definite and obviuse confliction as to what we are told.

Tony took more than half of his day off work to try and sort this out. And he is still not clear on what the law is!

I'm just lurking here in the shadows whatching, waiting to see what I have to do :D .

And Tony, you know my day today, as far as bad days go, far out waighs yours ;) . Touchy, I'll explain to you latter over a drink!

I have no idea how they have it up in Canada.....but here in IL the drivers lisence is good up untill 26001 lbs of COMBINED weight.....so if the cop stop you and looks at the tags on the truck and trailer and they weigh in over 26001 lbs they can give you a ticket........but theres a gray area about getting a CDL (comercial Drivers Lisence) because you are not driving anything comercialy! I know two people who have gotten tickets here for towing there race cars in big enclosed trailers with duallys......they went to court and fought it and won....other then a waste of time some of these cops are trying to flex their powers in places they dont knw anything about! :(

dude - we have room for a great guy like you down here in the states... I haven't registered my boat trailer in two years and the cops stand around talking to me all the time at the ramp - once on a while one will say "you know you ought to get around to re-registering that trailer soon".

:)

The only way to be completely legal is to weigh the complete truck & trailer take that weight & if it's over the magic # you have to apply for a CVOR, get a safety check done every year on truck & trailer, make sure you have enough license on the truck and fill out a circle check of the vehicle every time you drive it!!! :(

Lats year me and a few freinds and familys went to smith mountian lake for a weekend. After partying all day friday, Saturday and Satruday night. :beers: :beers: I decided I need to stay sober for the ride home being the wife wont drive with the boat behind. We had two county cops pull up beside us and slow down looking at the tags and inspection sticker on the trailers. Pulled my freind over and wrote him a worning. I stoped at a gas station to wait for him and the second cop came to my window and just wanted to let me know my buddy was ok. Yeah he was looking for a dui.
