no prices, no descriptions of really anything, no setups for twins or that I can see anyway
strange site.
anyone know how much their steering systems are for twins?

PS "the rack" extreme steering system from eddie marine NON tilt helm is 142 bucks with a 15 ft cable
Ill have to measure my cable but I think that is what I need or close to it

That is why I said "No opinion"!!!! I went to the site a few months ago and said WTF???? But there are some people happy with thier products and I do not like to put another persons boat down...... So I do have an opinion I guess.........................................

My 23 Nova can get squirrelly in the 65 to 70 mph range when the water gets +,-1.5 to 2.0 ft. And I do have concerns about a steering failure at speed. The bravo has almost no side to side play, and the steering components are in good shape. However there is some play in the steering wheel. I can't justify the cost of a full hydraulic system and like Jayl13, upgrades are getting to the point where I'll loose $ big time when I decide to sell. For safety sake, I plan on a Sidewinder stab, just in case of a steering failure. If I get any other bennies out of the Sidewinder, so be it.

Think if I were in Jay's position, I'd go for a complete new cable steering system from helm to stern. Then add on a set of Sidewinders for the safety aspect. Granted, won't get the performance of a full hydraulic system. But, overall the boat should handle acceptably. And the Sidewinders will help keep things safe. Just my HO.

those sidewinders are pricy too
grand for 2 storm door closers???
Jason

PS those are drew marine right?

Yes they are Drew Marine. I think they're about $800.00 per set. I agree, pricey for what they are. But that's typical for boat stuff. Still allot less $ than full hydraulic though.

I have a single I/O so I could get by with one unit. Think you should have two with twins.

wish they offered them in a full polished setup
the anodized will fade in the salt water sort of fast.
Even powder coating will last longer.
Like I said close to a grand for 2 storm door closers WHEW
but Maybe If I can find someone down here thaat has them I would be interested in seeing them up close and personal.
also see how they help from turning side to side.

Ill have to look into this,
I like the idea
Dont like the price for what it is
Think aabout it
Hydraulic rams are that price
but I do like the whole concept of keeping some tension on all the steering components so not to wear out tiller arms, gimbal rings, ect and with the tie bar added to the whole thing, makes it all nice and tight

So if you had to replace your steering systems in your boat, what would you replace it with?
Rack and pinion?
Rotary hub
screw it and go full hydraulic and let your wife take your testicles and sell them to a science lab?

Thanks guys

Jason
People will buy them?!? I'm getting mine snipped anyway so might as well sell them to the highest bidder.

There have been posts on here as well as oso on full hydraulic for under $500.

well yeah home made things that maay hold up for a few years or so and Kudo's to guys that can engineer their systems for that little.
amen to that
but now im in a salt water environment and anything that would cost that little is non stainless and would suffer
Im going to go with the extreme rack from eddie marine and just reinstall the whole brazil valve ps unit and start this whole steering system fresh

With a prop that was blowing out radically, and would not hook up and with the stock flame arrestors and the blower scoops restricting the airflow into the engines, I was at 67 GPS MPH at 4400 RPM's
Julie at Throttle up wants me to spin up to 5000 to get max
She will do over 70 that is not a thought about if it will or not, questions is will it be STABLE over 70?
In the delaware 67 was very stable but I felt props blowing out badly. Would not hook up and could not feel any BITE with the props.
Initial thoughts were to bump to 5 blade semi Cleaver PX5's but then the question of snapping prop shafts on the lowers became a question that we are kicking around if it will bite TOO much.
Possibly a Hydromotive semi cleaver 4 blade is what we are going to start testing with but for now im going to buy the extreme rack and pinion setup, with one of those momo spargi wheels and hopefully that will eliminate any old worn components, and free up the steering to nice and smooth operation.
If that does not make it smooth enough and it is still hard to turn, then the power steering slave unit with the brazil valve will then be replaced and bled properly to make sure that the power assist is actually ASSISTING me in turning the drives, subsequently there is an internal and an external tie bar for both of the drives so the play betwen both drives will be minimal.
Jason,
PS cant wait to zip down there and check out the sonic my friend.
You going to SC then thing or keep it as is?

I put a WPM tie bar on my old 242 Formula. It made a world of difference on the handling.

As far as steering systems, on my outboard boat, I had gone through 3 racks before converting it to hydraulic system. What a difference. This boat has been hard to turn since I bought it brand new in 1988.

I woiuld agree with your decision to stay with what you have, but in a newer form. If it works out, try the tiebar too.
