Okay guys, before I can trade or sell ye old baja, I am reedoing everything for the next owner.
The engines are done, they run great now.
Need to get trim rams resesaled no big deal, but the dash is in such poor or even worse HORRIBLE shape I cant stand looking at it anymore.
Im running into problems finding someone that has a template for this particular boat so i felt i had to just take the dash with me so another one could be made from scratch
These are the pics from today of me tearing it apart.
i figured since im doing the steering and that is all torn out of the boat right now i might as well go ahead and tear out the entire dash and start from scratch.
here we go wtih the pics for ya
This is wht im starting with.
(oh GOD what the F was baja THINKING?)

this is the underside, not too bad, then again does not really get any sun.
Ill tell you this, i am going to do aluminum this time cause this is for the birds. I can honestly say plastic is doomed from the sun and this was a connecticut boat before i pulled it to PA.
imagine what florida sun would do to it?
crap it out in 3 years!!

this is after i pulled the dash panels off, gauges out, i did label everything and wired it bck up the way tthte wires came off so when I go to put new gauges in new dash panels, Ill be okay with the crazy wiring going on in here.

This is the quality thing that Im annoyed at by baja, looks like after they laid the fiberglass for the dash, they just hacked it open with a saw zaw, this is the type of stuff that really drives me crazy!
look at both openings, looks like a 4 year old used a rotozip or something to open up the holes.

I called a few places to see about gettting dash panels made.
Only local one is in lauderdale, they said they can do plastic, aluminum, stainless steel ect.
well I want to do this as inexpensively as i can but i dont want crap.
so i think im going to opt for the aluminum, then do what Jeff did and airbrush it, THEN put the gauges and new bezels in there and it should look schweet, this is what i have so far (not pictured are the rocker swittches I bought already for the entire dash, new carlington rockers)
