Anybody see anything wrong with this picture? This is the Civic right after I picked it up from the shop. I had to correct this at home. Its hard to find good help!

I guess this is non boat related so you will not get a free T-Shirt from Jeff if your right...lol

Typically, the rotors that we manufacture would be mounted opposite of the way yours are shown. I can not see the rotor vanes to be certain. Our directional vane rotors are designed to expel the hot air as the assembly rotates and the groves in the face usually match the vane direction.

Is it is a rice burner...lol - its fun though.

Yes, good job pachanga! The rotors were mounted backwards. I through a fit when I noticed. I just went ahead and took it apart and switched them myself. :ninja:

Sorry, had to do it,

years ago, I was into Hondas, before everyone else was, but now its like a BAD DISEASE!!!!! the area I live in is overrrun with rich punks racing these things, that was fine, until I got rear ended by a 15 year old who's 17 year old brother in the passenger seat let him drive, just about ran me over in his while racing(I was in a Honda also), have you ever seen what $8000 in damage to a '99 Accord looks like???? The car was never the same again, and unfortunately my girlfriend was upside down on the loan, we had to trade it in after repairs, and take the loss. She wanted an SUV anyway, I said fine, as long as it is a GM product!!!

Oh, by the way, they tried pulling the changing drivers routine, until the witness(the girls they were racing :laugher: :laugher: ) told the cops all about it :D :D , and wouldnt you know, when we went to court, the kids daddy played Golf with the judge   , they got away with a simple fine.

I used to street race too, (although it was in a Chevelle), and we went to the freeway, after midnight to do it, and had other cars block traffic.

Bill,

That is why I said typically and usually. The Brembo rotors use straight slots at an angle and are mounted as you have mentioned. The best way to see for sure is to check the rotor vanes to see if they are swept or if they are straight (from the center to the outer diameter). Mounting the rotor so the slots are back-wards does little to the performance or life expectancy of the rotor for street performance but mounting the rotor so the vanes are reversed can definitely affect the life and performance. Anybody remember the Taurus SHO with the directional rotors and all the TSB's about warpage and incorrect installation of rotors?

HMMM - I am confused now. So which way is correct? Unfortunately these bolt on performance upgrades don't typically come with instructions. Your either in the know, or learning (like me).

FYI - rchevelle, its all in fun. I can't say that I race people out of the blue. That is what gets people hurt, feelings and property. But I do like to play with the car from time to time, race my gf and crank up the RPM's on the interstate, but racing on city streets is a little to scary even for me. Considering also most of the teenagers that are tuning these cars can't drive to well.

Since this is a vented rotor, the only way to tell is to look at the vanes between the friction surfaces of the rotor. You do NOT want the rotor catching air, this forces the hot air back to the hub and can concentrate the heat instead of expelling it.

Ok well I did switch them 2 days ago so that the vain/vent contacts the brade pad first near the hub then as the wheel turns the vain goes outward away from the hub. I think this is the right way. I do have some common sense..lol Thanks for sharing your brain waves with me.... :yak:

dragging feet

Rogue - Honestly I had no problem stopping the civic before, cause I would drag me feet....lol Also make no mystake I am no kid and I am respectful, don't drive like a idiot. Once I get the turbo, intercooler, and the engine work done, its going straight to the track, no longer in the same league with most teenagers. Its kinda comical the way some kids act, they all want to race me from the stop lights, I just let em go.

FYI - These rotors and brake pads have made a significant difference in braking power. I think this thing is bordering on race car braking capacity. If I added the 4 piston calipers then it would get even better, would throw me into the windsheild without a 4 point harness. :p:

4 piston as opposed to 1 piston is not necssarily what is going to give you better braking. We manufacture single piston calipers that have greater clamping force than some of our 4 piston or 6 piston calipers. It is the same with engines, you can have 4 cyl with more HP than an 8 cyl. Displacement has a lot to do with it. The same for braking. The biggest gain for the buck is to go to larger diameter rotors. This increases the leverage action. Also, tuning your pads to your driving requirements can greatly improve your performance. 4 piston calipers as opposed to a single piston caliper will give a more consistant pedal feel and move even pad wear. To increase the clamping force you will have to increase the displacement at the caliper which will require altering your master cylinder size or proportioning valve to maintain the balance of your factory brake system. Be careful of some of the kits available and make sure they are engineered to work with the factory proportioning system.

I love the look on their faces when I blow them away with my northstar eldorado caddy. Sounds better too. I know, Im old. Did you see where they are stuffing these northstars with twin turbos into GTO's. Now there a hot rod.

Btw. I loved my old CRX, but that was before they became the kids hotrod.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS SAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved mine too, and I do have to say that I believe Honda is the best import you can buy(other than european :D ), and a great commuter car, But I'll stick to GM, the quality may not be the greatest, but at least when something does go wrong, I can fix it!!!

Most of the time :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:
