yeah pretty gross, I cant imagine how they maneged to get banged up like that, I kinda scratched my head on that one, I looked like a dock monkey. My only theory is that he at some point had the stern facing upstream and some debris came down into it.

I just spent last weekend in the Pittsburgh area boating on the Allegheny River. When it rains a lot you get anything and everything floating down the river from trees to turds. If sticks and things start to collect in an area it is only a matter of time before it builds up.
It is hard to believe some of the boats that people have on the river. The boats would be more at home on the ocean or the great lakes.
Where was this boat docked? One of the bigger and nicest marinas in the Pittsburgh area is Fox Chapel.

The boat Liq-her came up for sale yesterday down here in boca so I might take a look at that one.
It has twin 500HP's in it. I dont think it has a trailer but that boat here is cheaper than the one up there but I dont know the condition.
Have some comparing to do.
That first shot you sent almost gave me a heart attack wtih the mufflers.
Never saw anything like that before in my life.
Thats 4500 bones to replace all 3 pairs of mufflers on that thing!!!

Tim took incredible pics of alot of things that are "worn" on the sonic in Pittsburgh. Look at the mufflers, HOW THE HELL do you dent a muffler?

I do have a few questions for you guys.
1 Spider cracking spanning a few feet in a inner corner of a boat on the gel, Marine tex into the crack, then sand and feather out is that all any marina would do?

2 Yellowing of the gel, Is there a cleaner for that? Or is that a sand through it and or buff it out with compound and a wheel?

3 Rubber Pirelli flooring, how long does that garbage last?

Yellowing may be able to be taken care of by chemical hull cleaner, then Buffing, worst case, wetsand.

Pirelli flooring, depending on how old it is, the older stuff wasnt U/V stabilized, but still seemmed to hold up pretty well.

From the pics, and questions you posted, I would be a little skeered!!!!!!!
 
To fix spider cracks the White way is to GRIND out the entire area that has the cracked gel. Then rebuild the area and re-gel.

If you see yellowing only in certain areas, it may be that area was already repaired and the gel either did not match from the beginning, or wasn't sprayed properly and was effected by the sun.

Not sure on the flooring. you could always put a drop in carpet over it.

any pics of the other one with the 500's?

Its not, it is just a small few things that are questionable.
the mufflers are definately the worst part. The rub rail is fine there, that what your seeing is a grab rail that is mounted in the center of the platform on the back edge so you can get back up onto the boat from the water is all that is.

Dirt washes off that is of no concern or minimal concern to me.
Look at the gunk floating at the back and that is what is washing up against the boat, with a good washing that will be gone, but the muffler cans are what is bothering me. To get 3 pairs of new ones is 4500 bones.
to fix those or repair them might be a few hundred bucks to over a grand. I see all the air hoses are broken or disconnected and hanging there.
So the mufflers are basically unusable at this time.
Hell I dont have mufflers or silent choice on my boat now so 3 pairs of Gil exhaust tips would work fine with me but its leverage.

good point. My concern is that if this area is not maintained to my standards then how is the rest of the boat maintained? Pictures are worth a million bucks. I agree a couple tips would be fine with me, thats what I have. The less moving parts the better in my mind. Did you ever get any more detail in the one in Lake Cumberland?

Cumberlands sonic - sold!
(was twin 502MPI's anyway, thing was slow like the one in MD)
Need blowers and carbs and header transplants on the twin 502MPI boats to get em to move.
The 500 EFI's or the 500 HP boats are a better balance overall this triple one is trip 502 mag carb engines.
I can look past dirt, I can look past some other things, its overall structural and mechanical that I have big concerns with .

Here is the yellowing im worried about and would have to either wet sand out or buff out or rub out by hand.

I dont know???? If you have any doubt, Dont do it, thats a lot of $$$$ for a bot that needs work, either have him fix it, or make sure the price reflects the work needed.
 
Looks like things are flexing way toooooo much. Unless this is common for sonics I would walk away. The stress cracks by the swim platform would not bother me, this can be cause by a gel coat issue, but is not structural. The one in the pic above sure looks structural to me. I have only owned three boats and none has anything like this at all.
