Maybe this thread should read "think twice about a Baja".
After receiving delivery of my 30 Outlaw I have come across more and more things that are wrong with it as time goes by. Seems like everytime I get a chance to use it, I come across something new that should have been fixed before it ever left the factory in Bycus OH. :angry1:
What I find even more perplexing is the fact that these boats are shipped from the factory without ever undergoing a quality control check. And if by some chance they are, how can this many items get overlooked?
How can a company as big as Baja expect to have repeat customers with quality issues like this? Good question I think.
Having said that, I do like the boat, its many amenities (if you order up the AC/DC galley), reasonable cockpit space and its awesome acceleration w/HO's.
It does not handle the big waves and rough waters like I thought it would though. I have had the pleasure of riding in a 33 Outlaw as well and there really is no comparison IMO. Whether its the 3' of hull or the increased mass, I'm not sure. Either way, I'd choose the 33 if given the option again. It rides more like the 25 than the 33.
For the money, the 30 is not even an option unless you want to make a dozen trips back and forth for warranty issues.
I'd give it a 9 for style and 3 for quality.
