I've never towed anything over 33 feet before. Now I will be towing a kevlar TG. Is a H2 sufficient as a tow vehicle for this boat. I know a person on one of the other boards tows his Gladiator with one and I saw an article in Extreme Boats about a H2 towing a 38 Scarab. Are these vehicles in stock form or is their performance enhanced?

There is no way that I would tow a 38 Top Gun with a H2 more than a couple of miles to the ramp. The six liter motor may pull it fine, but the boat will push the vehicle right off the road in a turn or even a quick stop. I would think your minimum tow vehicle would be a 2500HD or a F-250. Just trying to save you from a huge mistake. Just my .02 :D

As an H2 owner, NO! The tow weight rating is 7000lbs. The gross vehicle weight is what kills the tow rating for the H2. Yes, around the neighborhood or move it at the shop across the parking lot.

You need at the least a Ford F-250 or Chevy 2500...at the min!

I would definitely stay away from an Expedition. Maybe an Excursion would do the trick. An Expedition has an even smaller motor than the H2 and I definitely don't think it would stay on the road any better than a H2.

You need at least a 2500HD, Excursion, or F-250 to do the trick. The problem with an Expediton or even a H2 is that while curving through a road a boat has a tendency to "push" on the tow vehicle. If you don't have a stable tow rig, you will literally drive right off the road. Hope this helps. What other vehicles are you looking at?

Towed our 33' Fountain with an Expedition from 441 & Sunrise to 14th St. ramp. That was enough.

I would reccomend a 2500HD or an F-250. Frank, if you are going to buy a used Ford there is a Ford Dealer next door to us, I can get you a killer deal.

Frank, a 3/4 ton will get the job done but I would highly suggest biting the bullett and just getting a dually....You're getting a huge boat and a 2500 will have no problem pulling but the rear end will dance on you a bit and the extra weight of the dually will make towing a breeze....

I towed my 96 TG with an F250 (non dually) and it was great on power but the TG pushed the truck aroun. I sold the F250 PSD and replaced it with a Doda Ram 3500 Dually and the dually with it's bigger springs and 4 rear tires made all the difference. after a while you forget it's even back there.

get a dually 3500

I even get someone else to drive....
What were you doing, just leaving the "adult" place right behind you!!!??? :D :laugher:

I would not tow with the H2 and great distance. Power is one thing, but stopping and turning are another. I tow with a F250 and that is as small as I would want towing my Top Gun. An Excursion with the Powerstroke or V-10 would do fine. No Expedition. just my .02
