Are you dumping your girlfriend??? :D:D:D

Picked up a few MPH since this pic was taken.
42' Cigarette

Very funny! I am actually going to run it after I take all the crap out of it and with half a tank to see what number I will hit. I can see 89 maybe 90 out of it. I would definitely see it if I were running in the salt water.

Oh so you weren't on the boat and someone else was driving!!?? ;) :D :laugher:

Those 38's are twin stepped mine is a straight "V". Twin step Tigers with 575's run in the high 80's also.

I would have to see a 38 TS with 525's with cabin do 90, I am a little skeptic of that but if all is right in the world it seems also in salt water (NJ) it might happen. I was on Cig1's TG/TS/525's with extension boxes last winter and it did 92 in salt water but that is an F-2 layup with no cabin at all and propped for top speed. The thing is really hard to get on plane but it does have top end once it gets going.
Evil Twins rig with 575's I am sure he can bump 90 once he gets all the summer crap out and light fuel load.

In the end Cigs will never be faster than Fountain's or many other V-Hulls with same power in sub 3' waters but, has happened at our fun-run we had here on Lake Champlain at the end of July, waves create great equality and Cigarette's don't give their place in the rougher stuff.

Wind was 30 MPH and seas were 6' and a little more. Scarabs, Fountains and all were there but once we left the sheltered areas and got into the brunt of the waves not one boat was going faster than 65 MPH and the heavy slow Cig was ahead of all of them.

As for these top speeds for V-Hull stuff all the videos I've seen are in flat water where a descent sized and same powered cat would eat there lunch every day and twice on Sunday. No one runs 140 mph in 6 foot seas.

I am more than sure that Cig can come and test there top speeds in the flat water with everyone else. Also, it is darn hard to flip a Deep-Vee compared to a Cat

Like I said in the other thread; be aware that all full glassed racing Fountain's and the speed record holding hull have been built by Douglas Marine in Michigan that build Skaters and have nothing in common with what comes out of the Fountain factory.

Cigs and Fountains are different boats and suit there owners for their intended usually different applications, when the applications differ then the better boat might vary.
