Hey Kidnova, are you like me, babying your boat out of the whole and bringing it up to high speed 'gingerly' hoping not to blow something up in the drive?

That's how I've become so far, with the new power. In the old days, I would need to nail it to get up on plane. Now, half throttle does it...

Do you also dream of building a bigger motor, even though you have all you need?
=======
My dreams need to change. I have plenty of power now, but the dream of this power was apparently not quenched by the reality. Now I dream of Whipples, 540's, etc....

Then I read =this= thread, hoping and waiting...

I'm sick. :lick:

Hey Mud, Yeah, pretty much the same. Dam...it's like you're reading my mind!! I'd love another 125-150 hp or so. If I made 80 mph in the Nova I'd be in heaven. But then you know what's next......ya want 90, then ya want to be a member of the triple dig club. Never ends.

You're right, you are sick. I'm sick. Hell, we're all sick. This is a disease for which there is only one cure....MORE POWER    HELP MMmmeeeee. :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

Kid ya know ya wont be happy at 80 :D I went from 67 to 81GPS this summer and already want more. Its a disease.

Ok...calm down.

Like you, I've thought about a SC too. But I'd have to lower the compression {9.6:1 right now}, add hydraulic steering, stronger drive, tabs would be nice too. Too much $. Chitt, I'd have a 1995 Nova with 45K invested that in reality would be worth about 1/2 that much.

Nope, gonna save for a bigger boat, that's the plan.

Gotta go to bed now......gonna dream of more HP :D .

BTW....please....no more ideas. Remember, your ill :laugher: :laugher:

Ya this wicked curse  now has me building a raped ape 383 with the help of CFM and Cstraub for my truck. Where does it end?

Okay - I can be :hothead:

What if I told you you are a camshaft change and $400-$500 worth of port work to make 550hp and 590ft/lbs of torque?

I'll give you the low down when my motors done for good.

That's evil!!!

Want to dream? How about a pair of these 1,927hp (under rated to sand bag I'm sure) Sorcerer motors.
I've seen them, heard them, and am addicted.

Here you go - dream away.
Now your talking.....will that fit in my Subaru wagon? :laugher:

Ah chitt, I'll be old {older} and gray before you get that engine done. By then I'll have my 30 ft. Profile and want 700 hp :D

Great report.

When you say rich you weren't kidding.

Very, very respectable #'s !

You probably did this motor and dyno test in 1/10th the time it's taking me :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

Few questions - compression ? header size used for tests ? camp spec's if you are okay to say ?

Might be a good way to go if Heads aren't in someone's wallet.

CFM, couldn't justify heads this time. Actually was pulling motor to make some changes and frshen up when found rotten stringer which lead to finding rot in transom and floor.

Motor has stock gen 4 heads except extreme duty valves and bronze guides. Heads were pocket ported and port matched to merlin marine single plane intake. Intake was also matched to carb flange.

Lunati/Ultradyn hyd roller cam, 230 intake 238 exhaust duration @.05 / Gross lift .600 / 114 lobe sep. Lunati hyd roller lifters. manley push rods, crane gold 1.7 rockers

pistons are 212140 srp forged, Polydyn ceramic coated on top and some kind of teflon coated on sides also polydyn. rods were bronze bushed. Block was slightly chamfered to match head gasket.

MSD 6m with soft touch and msd dist.

I know you don't like compression in boats. I probably ended up 9.5 or 9.6-1.

Got about 60 hours on it, so far so good.

BTW about 3 weeks for motor from out boat to dyno. ;)
