:lick: That with my RevMarine exhaust?....no don't answer that I don't want to know....ok tell me... :rambo:

Ah chitt, I'll be old {older} and gray before you get that engine done. By then I'll have my 30 ft. Profile and want 700 hp :D
Okay - here's the deal. I want you to get some sleep tonight.

Sallee Chevrolet took your motor, did quick bowl and short turn work - thru in a Crane 168761 (230, 236 at .050" .596,610) cam and the power #'s almost identical to MHawkins. Basically +/- 5 to 8 ft/lbs up to 5200 rpm.

I'm not sure which intake - I'd bet stock or RPM Air Gap. I can find out.

Anyway - makes some good uumph.

I see, it does make good uumph. Wonder if they use the same Alum heads {do the bowl work to them} that come with the regular 502/502. tq/hp is close between the two engines up to around 4200. Then from there, the Sallee engine keeps pull'n away from the 502/502.

Nope, can't be tempted. Then again...never say never, right? :D

p.s. Then they have the 128 hp upgrade....it never ends.

I believe it is the same heads.

Only issue I have with their test is that they used 2 1/8" primary tube headers which are known to shoot up the power a little when dynoing any healthy bib block from 454cid on up.

Anyway - the final outcome is quite believable. I think if Cstraub design's a smaller but smarter cam you will make around the same power and not worry about the 'big cam' consequences.

It may not end forever, but for the time it can. You are interested in a larger boat and that should take precidence over motor upgrades at this time since you already have a worthy motor.

Worry about more hp when you have some seat time in the newer boat.

So, let's find you a boat so we can help you with a bigger motor !!!

I'd be more interested in Cstraub's 540. I know I am :winker: :winker: :winker:

For sure. To me a medium build 540 makes much more sense than a rad 502. More dependable, less maintenance and would last longer.

Have to wait a season or two for the bigger boat, unless I find the offer I can't refuse. That's ok...I have a patient side

WTF, CFM???

Your more interested in Chris's stuff, now???

Me thinks that if you turn your computer OFF, then concentrate on YOUR OWN MOTOR, you just might get it done!!!

I see 8 millions posts per day from you, when you are 'supposed to be' working on YOUR MOTOR!!!

Git off yer butt, buddy!! :clown: :clown: :clown:

Yeh I know. During the day I work on the phone and computer + I type real fast. At night and week-ends I do the other stuff.

It would look like I don't work - I wish - but I do.

Power of the internet - you can see this stuff pop up and respond while working. Plus you can type part of a response, flip screens to do work stuff, and the flip back, keep typing, and then hit 'Submit.'

Not much downtime.

Anyway - don't have much time left outside of working hours to do this forum stuff.

The dyno thing - it's a drive from here and it's not mine. Work takes precedence over this - I go there a lot for other's motors while mine will sit in the corner sleeping.

It happens - only so many hours in the day to do what everyone wants you to do.

Hey CStraub-

Just read your posts at the other place.

Seems like I'm slowing you down for results.

Sorry dude !

Some day I'll have my own dyno and nothing else to do but play with it !!!

Scott,
don't worry about it, I'm just trying to show the boating public that when it comes to size, only hull length is better when bigger. . . .Not camshafts :D

Chris

Hey, you should have had the conversation I had last night, this poor guy. Long story short. . .his engine was 40CID smaller then he bought, camshaft was designed for a power range of 5 to 7K, and then the kicker, had 350CC heads on a 60 over 454 CID. He wondered why it was a slug out of the hole?

There's some other things with boating that bigger means better :freak: :freak:

Maybe not mechanical, but you know.

RM seems to be there all the time - does he not like it over here or something? I found his posts to be interesting with a lot of good info.

2 New flow meters for the dyno came in.

We'll try Thurs or Friday or Sat.

I know - yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh, blah, blah, blah

I'm not just doin this for myself or the hell of it you know.

Gotta give me some credit for not loosen it or sayin' frig the tests and let's drop it in.

Anything? Somethin ? :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

Were not worthy.....were not worthy.....were not worthy.... :D Keep at it man.......your doing fine......dont pay no attention to the impatient ones. :winker:

If you need boat to drop your engine in I will let you borrow my boat. You can even keep the old engine. It runs fine. I figure for the services of donating my boat for a few weeks I will just keep the engine. Oh by the way it was 85 today so it would be perfect weather to do some test runs.

INCREDIBLE!!!! :D :D :D

So, anyone want to make a guess as to the final numbers? It sure sounds like you, CFM, are close!!

Premature for this speculation?

I guess a max of 450 ft/lbs of torque at 9,000 rpm, with a max HP of 400 at 2,000 rpm.

Kent :D

Way too late in the game to stop. I got you pegged...If you drop it in the boat before final dynoing, you wouldn't be able to sleep at night.....

Newbie guess.......+600 tq in the high 4k's/low 5k's then drops off some, and makes 550 to 560 hp in the 5300 - 5400 rpm range....we'll see

Fuel delivery:
I say take that handy garden sprayer thingy he uses for changing OD oil and fill it with fuel, put a regulator on it, connect it to the engine, pump it up 'till it's ready to pop and let'r rip. Screw the high tech BS :D

Thanks guys.

I don't think torque will come up much - maybe 3-5ft/lbs for the fuel delivery was fine during the 587ft/lb torque peak at 4400-4600rpm.

The fuel started foaming around 4600rpm and then disappeared by 5000rpm.

Only hp reading I saw was 500 around 4500-4600rpm.

So , it appears Mudball might be right
