My boat is mostly white the two previous owners have used who knows what on this boat . The white will not clean up.The gel coat is still in good shape and is not faded or oxidized.I've tired all the normal methods and products and nothing seems to work.Got any ideas

Mureatic acid worked for me too. It comes in 1 gallon containers and available at most hardware stores. Be very careful with it. You dont want to get it on your skin. Wear long sleeves and rubber gloves. And if you are going to use a sprayer, be careful if its windy. It might blow back in your face. It will take the yellow out.

dvx216,that yellowing of the gelcoat is probably from the
radiation fall out coming from that nuclear power plant
in the back ground on your avatar. :dead: :dead:
I think I see a yellow glow around the boat in your avatar pic. :laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

Do it by hand, one hand with the sand paper in it and your other with a wet sponge above it drizzeling water on the paper. You must keep it wet so you don't burn the gelcoat. It actually doesn't take a whole lot of sanding to knock off the oxidized layer. I did that then used 3M Imperial Microfinishing compound then a good coat of 2001 polish. I have read where polish is better that wax for gelcoat because it let's gelcoat breath where wax doesn't, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Have you tried Collinites fiberglass cleaner?? stuff works great. I have tried just about everything and I always go back to Collinites. It will not get yellowing out of hulls, but it does a great job on white fiberglass. It is not a harsh compound its a nice liquid and goes on real smooth and very easy to remove. http://www.collinite.com/marine.htm
