I was just reading the post: "U Might be a Brand B boater if"
It made for some light hearted reading. But then I got to thinking. Why does brand "B" get dumped on so much? They are great looking boats. They are fast; generally as fast as a comparable brand "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, etc" boat. The people who own them are great folks. The only downside I personally experienced is: The 272 model has a pretty poor ride.
In 2000 my freind & I bought boats within a month of each other. He bought a really nice "B" 272, and I bought a PQ 280. Both our boats had a 502. Speed wise, one day I might squeek a nose ahead, the other day he might squeek ahead. The ONLY negative I actually experienced was that particular boat rode pretty poor. In maybe 2' waves, his 272 just pounded the crap out of us. It was so bad we couldn't go more than 30mph. In my PQ 280, I know those type of waves would have been no problem at virtually any speed. Other than that no problems (other than being a boat) and he had a wonderful time with that boat.
So, what's the big deal with brand "B". I've never seen one break the hull, sink, or fly apart! Yes they are a volume production boat, but so is Scarab, Donzi, Fountain, Formula, Nordic and Checkmate just to name a few. Brand "B" also races boats and there again seem to do fine. Why the bad rap?
