Who is the best insurance company to deal with for high performance boats. I just found out that my normal company will not insure my boat anymore.
BOAT/US should cover that. Just tell them it's a runabout, which it is, technically.priorities said:Baja Islaner 212 280hp
How is that possible?chjohn said:I can insure a Chrysler Caravan or a Corvette for the same price.
No tickets, no accidents, married, over 40 etc...blackhawk said:How is that possible?
Well, that will definitely get you cheaper insurance. But insuring a caravan at the same price as a corvette? If a caravan gets into an accident how much will it cost to fix? If a corvette gets into the same accident how much will it cost to fix? A LOT more. Now thake into the fact that the corvette is a sprstscar and capable of much higher speeds. Charging the same permiums for those two vehicles wouldn't make much sense!chjohn said:No tickets, no accidents, married, over 40 etc...
The major expense in auto insurance is for liability not repair to your vehicle. Your driving record is the best indication to the insurance company of your risk to them, not the car you drive. Today (it changes monthly) I own 6 cars/trucks and two boats. My insurance premium including homeownwers and flood insurance and my umbrella policy is less than $900/month. And this is with teenage drivers in the house!blackhawk said:Well, that will definitely get you cheaper insurance. But insuring a caravan at the same price as a corvette? Yep, here too. We've got 3 car's/trucks and the boat. The boat is just over $500 now. The auto is only about $2100 a year and that's for a '05 Pacifica, '04 Excursion and '98 Volvo and the Volvo is the highest I believe. I know it's higher than the new Pacifica. And we have coverages max'd there too. Need to sell the Volvo and drop that one!chjohn said:No tickets, no accidents, married, over 40 etc...
In my teenage years I dated a girl whose father was a bail bondsman, his wife had a Mercedes 450SL. For every ticket he got fixed the 450 got detailed, man that was one shiny 450SL!!!!!!!!!SeaRay Jim said:Yep, here too. We've got 3 car's/trucks and the boat. The boat is just over $500 now. But hey, I remember paying $2100 a year for my 2nd Z28 when I was about 18-19 years old and that was the early 80's. Clean record, thanks to a good traffic Lawyer. :laugher:
