cfm, called Eddie Marine today, they said they could make some custom Mufflers for your application. They have 3.5 inch for exhaust tips but not for mufflers.???
How much and could I see the internal design before having to buy?

BTW: I need to boat. I know, I know, But I do and I deserve too, so..............................

I designed something that entails me modifying an exhaust part from another manufacturer. I'm not going to share this now in case it ends up being a disaster.

If it works good I'll let people in on it.

Can't friggin believe I'm conjuring up exhaust crap. :angry1: :angry1:

Speaking of your projects, did you do anything more on the water pressure relief valve?

There are some to be sold!! The 'other' site has a couple of threads on them, where people are bawking at the Merc prices...

Bam has the Merc ones for $200 on clearance, but that's still a bunch!
Sorry to go OT...

Well, you didn't run my new version and sonce my boats are out of the water I am not using one either.

So, the new version - the one you didn't use - is still sitting on my desk.

So............... nope, Nothing yet. :unhappy1:

Design # 1 failed. Won't fit. What I get for not pulling the boat out of the water first. "Right when you think you know/remember everything" :dead: :laugher:

Design#2 - will check tonight / tomorrow.

All this to get quieter and maybe slower. :angry1: :unhappy1:

OK - I'm f'n pizzedff !!!

<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm006YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/14/14_6_12.gif' alt='Chain Gun' border=0></a>

I discovered the 3" tips are actually 2.5" ID !!!

Yes, 3" OD but .25" thick !!! I think these may be cast aluminum.

This is turning out to be a POS project, especially since my last attempt did nothing noise wise.

I need true 3" tips with something soud deadening inside them or clamped to them before I move to the Arctic and just go snowmobiling.

Mud - talked to graham a few minutes ago.

Yeh, he laughed and said no way to the 82db's.

Anyway - he can help me out for a reasonable cost and I guess we'll find out how friggin picky the aquapolice are when it's done.

Let's cross our fingers.

Yeah, 82db is rediculous...

But, if you are running no muffs now, then running some just might be OK, even if you are over???

If it's 82db at idle, then I'd get some bubblers like B.I. did...
Kent

With the GGB mufflers and down tubes I'm seeing 82-83 at idle with about 550 pshp :D
Boat idling in the water
If I plugged the idle relief holes in the bottom of the muffler I'm sure it would be even quieter.

I finally took some decent pictures of it last night, so as soon as I get off work today I'll post them..
Boat underway

I brought Kent's db meter along this past weekend and measured a few boats anchored in the cove we were in.

The Formulas with the silent thunder system measured 82 db with twins and the "plugs" in. A single engine Formula without the plugs in measured 80db

The loudest boat was a single engine Powerquest with no mufflers...97db at Idle!!!!

OK , it's pretty much final.

CP Performance is one of the few that makes the 3" Tailpipes,

so I ordered them thru Don Baca at Triad Marine (advertiser here) http://www.tpmarine.com/ since he graciously helped me get my Eddie Marine stuff for my manifolds/tailpipes.

He gave me a little better price than CP did.

Thanx again Don.

I got the long 15" (5" internal/10" external) so that Graham at GGB could make a longer insert muffler. Every bit counts !!!

Graham (like most others) doesn't make 3" muffler stuff, but since he is a good guy and does make custom requests, he is going to design and make an insert for my circumstance.

Moral to the story - if you need something talk to the advertisers here. They seem to be more personal and thus flexible with Speedwake's needs than other non-advertiser businesses.

I found that with the 10" past the hull and the transoms angle, the tips will be mostly in the water. Should quiet it down more.

If anyone you know needs 3" mufflers, let them know Graham at GGB will have the designs to make them and, of course, thank me for being the first to have them made.

Why do I run into this crapz? It's not like boats haven't been around forever. :dead: :dead: :laugher: :laugher:
