Convincor that's a little bigger than I want to go. But, I have a friend that is looking for a 25-26' boat. Is the convincor a 7' beam boat?

Ken I am planning to move up to a 24 Pantera or Superboat. I need something with a small cuddy and a little more cockpit room.

I really hate to sell it because I love the boat. I have driven quite a few boats and the "fun factor" on my Unlimited is is way up there. But, I can't afford two boats right now so it has to go. :(

convincor, I don't think he will be at hardy but I will find out. I know he looked at a Check but didn't like it because it had a 7' beam. He wants a bigger cockpit. I will pass this info along to him.

Blackhawk, you might want to seroiusly consider that Checkmate. Convincor253 live down the street from me and I can tell you first hand that the boat is a bruiser!!
Especially if you are considering a 24 Pantera you will find this Checkmate can handle anything you want to throw at it.
The way the boat is set up he has never had a problem with running with my 32 in the snot and the cuddy is set up awesome on this boat. Not to mention all the extra's that have been installed, such as K-planes,drive extension, stereo system and a nasty sounding 502 mag.

Scott, convincor's boat looks great and also looks like a great buy. But, I am already pushing it with a 24/7 boat on my local lakes. Most of my boating is done on bigger water but I do hit the local lakes quite often too.

Actually we have taken his boat on a few inland lakes such as Coldwater Lake which isn't very big and it was rather easy to manage there. Just suggesting you check out all options before making the move.
Plus you could probably work out some kind of trade which would save both you guys the headache of trying to sell your boats this late in the season.
The thing I like about this boat is that it is all set up for big water running with all the goodies and a motor that definitley barks when you hit the key.

Scott I hear what you're saying. A 24' boat is pushing it on our local lakes but I'll take a look at it this weekend if I make it to Hardy. If it's too big my friend may be interested. Did Checkmate make a 24-26' boat that had a 7' beam?

I am not absolutely sure but I think the 251 Convincor GTX has a 7ft beam. Forum member Finish MasterGTX will be there this weekend and will have his Checkmate there so maybe you can see the difference between the two.
His boat is black with pink graphics so you can't miss it.

Okay. I was wondering because my friend that's looking said he looked at a Checkmate and a PQ and the PQ was a lot wider.

Personally I would stay away from the PowerQuest.
Unless he goes with a 34 or bigger they just don't handle rough water very well. Plus with a single engine boat they don't run very fast.
This particular Checkmate will run in the mid 70's all day
and the same size PQ won't hold a candle to it in speed or rough water handling.
Not trying to knock PQ or anything. I just think they are somewhat lacking in speed and handling compared to other boats out there. Especially in the single engine applications.

Even though my Enticer is slower top end (cause it only has 310's), I'd put it up against that Checkmate in any Lake St. Clair/Lake Huron/Lake Erie rough water.

the PQ's are built in Michigan for rough water. They may be a little slower but I definitely challange the "rough water" comment.

Now you are talking about a different animal considering the 290- is a twin screw boat. I am referring to single screw application.
Also you might want to re-read my post because I wasn't referring to any Checkmate. I was referring to this particular boat since it has been upgraded with 280 K-planes and 8 inches of drive extension. As to where most of the PQ just have Bennet tabs or Insta-Trims plus this has the 24 degree dead rise hull not the Persuader hull which is shallower.
Everyone has an opinion and like I said before this is NOT knocking PQ. But in my opinion I don't think for example a PQ 257 Legend I believe it is, would not be able to keep up this particular boat in the snot and definitley would not be in the same speed class.
