I have a buddy with twin 350tbi volvo motors. I think I remember that you came up with a throttle body spacer that would help pick up the power on this type setup. Have you tried tham on a marine application?

Thanks,

Like this ? :bigsmile:

Exactly,

Have any of your people tried them on a boat yet?

The motors are in a 330 Larson express cruiser. Barely sufficient power as it is. He wants to keep things looking fairly stock as the motors have just been treated to rebuilt heads and replacement exhausts/risers.

I thought this would be best bang for the buck and keep stock appearance for the most part.

Wobble,

They may help or may not. I'll explain why / why not.

GM:
4.3/5.0/5.7 used a dual 1 11/16" bore throttle body that flows approx 480cfm. Not good for a small block. They also used this on a dedicated throttle body intake - meaning it's mounting flange has two throttle bore holes of the same size and also has a totally divided intake plenum. This means half the cylinders draw air/fuel from one throttle bore and one injector.

Since 480cfm is restrictive to a small block, I cheated the system and enabled each cylinder to draw air/fuel from both throttle bores and injectors.

Cool? yeh, I patented it. Part of my claim to fame. :bigsmile: You should see my 2bbl racing spacers. :shocked: :shocked: :bigsmile: :bigsmile:

Ok, onwards. the 7.4L throttle body has 2" throttle bores and flows approximately 610cfm.

=====================================

Marine: ie: Mercruiser, Volvo Penta, etc, etc

They are able to use any parts they want. Knowing the GM small throttle body only flows 480cfm they many times used the 7.4L throttle body. 600cfm or so for a small block is plenty fine - no restriction here when used for a small block.

Now, they could also use any intake manifold they wanted. This is where Merc and Volvo Penta seem to be different. I say seem because I don't have any tbi marine engines nearby, so I have very little knowledge from those that call.

Some seem to use a throttle body intake, some use the non-performance quadrajet 4bbl intake with an adaptor, and some use the good high rise Bowtie cast iron 4bbl intake also with an adaptor.

=====================================

So, you must find out:
1)Which throttle body he has
2) Which intake he has
3) What style adaptor he has.

With this info, I can tell you if I can help you or not.

Hope I made sense.

Thanks CFM,

I understand where you are coming from and appreciate your honesty.

I am pulling this monster out of the water tonight. I will try and get that information. Starting with the exact model number of the motors and go from there. May take a while to get all the correct info. When I do I'll get back with you.

Many thanks,

Best part is you get a free 1/2 Pint of Maple Syrup with all orders place in Sept. :D :D :D :D :D
Where ?

My buddies business just got a huge package of Beef Jerky from their printing place.

Yeh, us northern hillbillies love that stuff !!!

I figure I'll eat/knaw a few lbs of it tonight during the Pats game.

Wife should love it when i come home - smelling like dead and spiced up Buffalo, Deer, Cattle, and etc, with a strong essence of Budweiser. :bigsmile:
