I've heard that PQ builds a good quality boat. But no 1st hand experience with them. I think that 26 is a good looking ride.

But then, I'm not really into the real super flashy stuff.

Guess I must be gett'n old

hey....... I am 25 and will take an early 90's or older looking boat over most of any of todays flashy paint boats.......I guess I am a lil humble but dont get me wrong, there are some way cool new machines out there. but i prefer more tame look!

I spoke briefly with a gentleman at LOTO a couple years ago who had a PQ 260. His had a non-mag 454 (310hp). He said it handled the rough water at LOTO beautifully but was terribly underpowered. I think he said top speed was 54 and it took forever to plane.
Basically, he loved the boat but wished for more power....

Personally, I really like your boat, I think it`s a good price for what you get.

So are you still on the cruiser kick or not?? (Not that I'm against it; around here I always see more of a party on the cruisers then the fast ones :) )

If so I would impart a little advice that was given to me by somebody who had been there before: If you want a cruiser get a cruiser, a fast boat get a fast boat, because the ones in between don't do either one particularly well, and you'll be unhappy in two ways instead of one.

Nothing meant by it, just giving my .02 where it isnt needed! :D
I totally agree! Ken, besides the shore power and AC what else does the PQ offer that your Sun doesn't have? Not trying to be negative, just helping put it in perspective. :)

considerably more room..........

I am sick and tired of nicole bitching about not having enough room

the cruiser is my idea......the bigger boat payment is here idea.......

I want no payment on what ever i get.......so if I have to wait a year anbd save more okay...........but i always liked the looks of these powequests.

I am torn...............like scott said.......i will probraly just be the cheap guy, keep my boat.............get a full bimini enclosure and try to figure a way to add ac and shore power...........but then am i putting to much money into an old boat???? dilems dilems dilemas

man i need a beer!

Ken,personally I think you should find yourself a 288 Sunsation and run with it. Maybe you and Canada Jeff could strike a deal. :winker:
scott, I absolutely love his boat. It is one if not the coolest 28 in my opinionand has all of the right things, except I dont want a blue motor. I want an absolutely stock 496 ho that i dont have to go out and play with every so often.........

but yes that is a sweet sweet boat.

If he would take my boat and 45k maybe we could start thinking (but I am sure thats not what hes looking for and that boat does deserve what he asking for it!)

Ken,The blue motors are not that much maintenance except for a valve spring change which CJ has already done. I honestly think as conservative as you drive you probably would never have a problem.
Not to mention the resale with that blue motor. That boat is all you buddy. :winker:

No Blue motor??
===
No rock solid reliability, with far more power?

All I know is I did the recommended valve spring thing with mine at 180 hours (actually did the whole top end, which it did NOT need), 20 hours before recommended. This was because the earlier (pre-2000) HP500's had valve spring issues.

I have run my motor what I consider fairly hard for 50 hours since.

What I have to look forward to is maybe a freshening in what, another 200-300-400-500+ hours. The valve spring issues have apparently been solved with the new stuff!

Why worry? I hammer down when I want to, and nothing breaks!

i just cant see the inurance difference and even having to play with springs on a blue motor-for just a few more ponies than the 496ho.....thats just the way i look at it!

funny thing is ....if i mage that statement, the next trip out with my luck The motor would go kaboom! LOL

Ken,personally I am not a big fan of the 496HO. Especially when comparing it to a 500HP. Don't getv me wrong the 496 is a good motor but is still fairly new and the 500HP has been around for a while.
For me it would be a blue motor hands down. The insurance can't be that much more either.

Make the move!!!! Do you want me to call CJ for ya and make the deal? I am great at spending someone elses money!!! :laugher: :laugher:

Also, I seem to remember that the 260PQ in question had a 454 mag, NOT a 496...
World of difference, unless I am now missing something...
