I tried to play the e-bay game and waited until 3 min. to end of auction to buy a bell housing for my velvet drive big block and there were no bids so I figured I had it and bid the minimum amount. Before I could reload on my pc there were 2 more bids and the auction ended. I missed it. There is another one coming up in a few days so I guess I'll go for that one. I did get a Gil sea strainer from the same guy about 10 min. before so I guess i'm doing ok... I guess I will have to play harder next time :dead:

does nothing if you are outbid
I never worry about getting outbid because esnipe only bids enough for you to win without exceeding your maximum. I never get in bidding wars - that's a sure way to lose your shirt when you let emotions get involved in purchases. I decide at the outset how much I am willing to pay and enter it in esnipe and if I win - I win... if I get outbid then it's clear to me that they other guy paid too much.

pt barnum was right.

e-bay does that for you without it costing extra money. Enter your MAXIMUM bid at the auction and your good to go.

I agree 100% I use esnipe and another frequently...saves me from watching all week as well...

if you do what hp500efi says then your bid is placed immediately and you tip everyone else off that you're bidding...and you simply drive up the price - which is exactly what ebay wants.

ebay like any other business does what's in their best interest... not yours....

Call a friend with a computer, tell him to watch the item on ebay while your on the phone with him. You have your bid screen up ready to go. Have him keep refreshing the item and telling you whats going on, the time and bid price, when it gets down to about 15 seconds left put in what your willing to spend and the other guy will have either payed more than you want to or will not be able to get his bid in.............

Unless you are sniped by JeffJ in the last 5 seconds :D

Esnipe is the only way to bid unless you do a "Buy it Now" I completed one today with Esnipe and one buy it now item. As always investigate the seller and see how quickly he responds to messages. And use PayPal.
