So I am in the process of ordering though I would share how things go... Either make or Break Extreme Marine.. So far they have been very helpful, its what I want and need.. Little more than I wanted to spend, pay for convienence and the right product the 1st time though right?

Measuring tonight and ordering Wednesday I hope... I am trying to get the colors straight right now... Was going to do Purple or Red, but I understand they might be able to do polished, I am going to try and incorporate some Red/purple and black stripes to continue out ont he platform from the graphics coming off the sundeck.. SHould be pretty sweet, but right now I am looking at about $2100 shipped to my door...

Stay Tuned.

This is what they say so far...

The platform on the Scarab you’re referring to was sent out bare. The customer had his boat painted and shot the platform at the same time. We can only do one solid color when powder coating. It is a powder then it’s baked on, this will give you the most durable finish on aluminum. I think the closest match for purple would be our dark violet. This is the purple you see on Baja platforms. Although you have accent colors on the sides, there isn’t much color on the top. Most of our customers would go with a gloss white powder coat. By doing this it actually makes the boat look longer. We don’t polish any platforms because it has to be done by hand then it would need a clear coat to avoid oxidation in the aluminum. When a clear coat is applied it gets a yellowish tint, not the best looking scenario. We could powder coat the platform in white and you can have a local painter follow the stripes from your sun pad onto the platform. We have plenty of red colors so we won’t have a problem matching that. Click the below to view the dark violet on a Baja 20 Outlaw.

In my opinion it would look the best in white with a local painter following the stripe pattern onto the platform. He would only have to hit the top of the platform so I couldn’t see it being to expensive. You can also get it in white and add the paint stripes at a later date. Or better yet have your friends pay for it since I’m sure you fork out a hefty gas bill when you take them out.

Once we get the order going we’ll ship out a color chart and some samples of that Baja purple so we can make the best decision possible.

So it looks like I don't have the polished choice, I too think that would be sweet... oh well, twas a nice try!

So maybe white with some matching stripes, everyone?

Do NOT get white!!! It is a B!TCH to keep clean from exhaust soot. If you are worried about the sun heating up a color, don't. It gets wet, and its easy to splash it to cool it down. Most of us just get a roll up yoga mat or similar to lay out across it anyway for more anti-skid quality.

I repeat, from a white swim platform owner; DON'T get white.

Well, I do like black... but don't think I am going down that road... I would REALLY like polished or brushed... but guess its not a choice and it might be difficult to keep looking nice...

So its Purple or Red... and I will get a local paint guy to dress it up a little this winter...

Can one paint over powder coat

JB,
That is what most people are saying.... Do I feel a pole coming on?

Wildmike.... do tell brother? How did everything go with them, prices? Quality.. Is that the poker run version or standard? Guess you have the grab bars added...

How did you install and how did that go? Was the mounting hardware provided? Sufficient?

Theres an IDEA.... Wonder if I can get some samples of chromed or SILVER? hmmmm

BTW these are all powder coated finishes.... not paint... maybe small painted graphics

I have seen the powder coat peel off some of the platforms. All it takes is one little nick and it spreads from there and you can't spot repair powder coating. Any damage or chips would require sandblasting and re-coating the whole thing. $$$

Has anyone painted their platform? How did it turn out? Does it last? If I can recover from this summers gas bill before next season, I'll be ordering one myself, and since my boat is yellow, I've been thinking of ordering it bare and painting it to match.
