noise pollution,
I am not afraid to say my Rocket trailer was a piece of dog-shlt. I would have been better off towing my boat (also a 26' Sonic) on a sheet of plywood. I completely rebuilt my trailer (axles, bunks, added front guide bunks, 4 disc brakes, coupler, lights and more) and it made the trip from VA to Montana with no incidents. Had I not done so, the rig would have NEVER made it to its new owner in one piece. If I were you, I would add some front bunks to your trailer, and make sure the rear bunks extend past your transom. The front of your boat resting on that PVC pad and the bow eye is NOT good.

I have a double axle and have had no problem with floating or drift with a current at the ramp BUT triple axles are notorious for it. See it many times myself :(

My current triple axle trailer does not float with LT truck tires on it.

My double axle Rocket Trailer floated so bad I had to affix 4-50 lb. dumbells to it. Before the dumbells, I was forced to tie the trailer off to the dock with twine to keep it from floating askew. No joke. (The weight of the boat would break the twine.) I was able to remove two of them after I redid the bunks and brakes (additional weight).

Our ramp is into salt-water and if the tide and current are going the same direction I have seen single axle aluminum trailers float. I have nothing against aluminum trailers just does not work well for my ramp.

When i owned Manning Marine I designed some cool things for boat trailers

this was a trailer we built for Airborn Marine

had water tank in between the sponsons with a pump and carried enough water to wash boat and flush it out

Put a Garage on the front so work could be done by walking a ramp from garage to engine compartment

many other cool things

Personally I like painted.... but I don't boat in salt... and I like springs... not torsions... my boat sits on the trailer alot & its heavy... torsions "flatten" I've found over time.... I Like steel over aluminum... aluminum... or "Flexible Flyers" as I call them just don't stay together at the welds over time.... so I've expirienced anyway... steel supports the boat bottom much better.... doesn't "Flex" as much over the road.... so I like steel painted for fresh water & galvanized for salt... springs & disc brakes... thats what I like :D

I would definitely would go with an aluminum with the torsion axles and bunks. Drive the boat on and drive off. You get better support. They ride so much better. Mine is a Rocket.
My last boat had a trailer similar with the pvc pipes. I removed them because where they made contact with the chines on the hull it damaged it. I welded some shorter bunks there about 16" long and it worked well. Just keep an eye on it.

A couple of bottle jacks will take the weight off the torsions and the tires. You do not have to jack it off the ground, just take some of the weight off.

You can get 12 ton bottle jacks for about $25. If you have a compressor handy you can get 12 ton Air bottle jacks for about $70.

I really don't want to do that every time I get done with the boat.... I'll stick with springs ;)
