"The benefits and people are great, even the company itself is good, but the job SUCKS!!!!"

Unfortunately, the only thing YOU can control is the part that sucks. You may be looking a long time to find the first 3 again. I suggest you stick with it and do what it takes to make the job better.

Good luck in whatever you do.

I feel for you man, it's been an emotional, financial roller coaster at my work as well. It sucks not sleeping cause your depressed about going in, I cannot tell you how many weekends I've wasted by dreding Monday morning. I'm stuck working 12 hour nights (14 hour Tuesdays) and cannot wait to bail! House is sold, working negotiations on antother. Move will be closer to my family and my TRUE friends, and too far away from my current job to commute. Since my boss said "we have to take into consideration that you are leaving" at my last review, right before he boned me out of a %, and asked me to work a 10 night stretch with two 14 hr Tuesdays thrown in. :angry1: :angry1: :angry1: (where is the smiley with the machine gun?) Keep in mind my friend money is not everything, as Hap said your health (both physical, and mental) are more important. Plus you have a boat, and it's paid for!!! what could be better? Good luck, I wish you well.

I take great pleasure in using my time ther for my personal growth :p: , or should I say projects!! :D Here are some of last weeks accomplishments. I've got one more dash panel to complete, and am working on idea's for a rotiserie, just gotta figure out how to remove a $700 AC to DC drive from inventory stealth like. :ninja:

Sorry for hijcking the thread :unhappy1: :pirate: I know I have a problem with doing that :pirate: My point was to make the best of your situation until something more worthwhile comes along. No more post from me today, I promis, yesterday was Tuesday, I'm going to bed.

I've been slow as hell at work for three weeks. The only thing that keeps me awake at night is worrying about my guys. I don't want to lose them. I told them all I would lend them money until we are busy again. I'm about to get swamped with work in the next couple weeks. This is the first time in years I had this long a slow period. It's not that I mind it, I keep plenty of money held back for times like this. I've been in this business too long not to know how it goes. I guess we've just been real fortunate the past five years or so not to have slow times.

I agree there are times when no matter what the pay is, the job ain't worth it. I used to manage restaraunts, and when my phone would ring, I'd get physically ill, because I knew something was wrong at work. I swear I'll jack off hobos for a living before I do that again. The money ain't good, but the hours are better. :)

good question Jeff, I tried to adapt..I went from a executive management position to a field supervisor. The office they had set up was in a gutted womens bathroom no heat, sewage backing up the floor drains, no p/c , phone...cell phone.desk that was falling apart.. the rest of the superentendents were cool ,one was from a project that I had just completed ..that pecker wood treated me like a piece of crap. but mostly I felt that I had no "ownership" in the project. my"heart" was not in it...I am very organized and detail oriented. and for a 200 million project it was a mess..I need to make a differance.. and there I felt like Iwas stirring a pot of crap..don't get me wrong these guys each had 15-20 years in the trade..and to me I had nothing..I was a department director who managed 40 + people..mission driven..I enjoyed mentoring and team building..plus I felt guilty to the new employer that I wasn't giving 100%..more or less I was the guy who hired and monitored contractors..instead now I was working for one...maybe I'm to arrogant !

no - I just think your conscientious and you understand where your strengths lie and you understand what do don't want to do.

yea, money is important but it's second to happiness.

keep looking - there's a place that needs a person with your skills, attention to detail and heart.

:)

Dave sorry to hear that, We were talking about a move to Florida so I started checking around for jobs and ended up with a head hunter calling up once a week with opportunities in florida. Construction superintendents are in high demand down there, Lots of nursing homes too. You could boat all year long.

Don't sell the boat yet there are a Lot of contractors around here.

Dave,

I work for a manufacturer of products in the construction industry here in Euclid. Email me at chriscraft32@sbcglobal.net if you're interested in getting back inside.

We are growing by leaps and bounds right now, just purchased one of our competitors and while I can't make any promises, I can get a resume in the right hands.
