Thanks for coverin' me BNUt! Actually GLH... if the Nut were here he would have me stopped right there.

The next steps will be to add the watermarks and the TSUNAMI lettering on Thursday.

watermarks

The watermarks have been masked and sprayed in diamond pearl. Airbrush effects at a later time will be added to enhance.

Also, the starboard carry-over is masked and ready. Also, the TSUNAMI masks are prepared and in place.

Airbrush special effects for the lettering. There are about 20 steps to creating the effect I'm trying to achieve in the logo, so it is very time consuming.

Are you using any sort of adhesion promoter or basecoat blending thinner between the base applications?

I was always under the assumption that you had to spray your bases all within 24 hours, and then apply the clear immediately afterwards - which made for some 18 hour days and a sore shoulder (Used Dupont Chroma System base/clear).

I know I'll get ripped on for this but, When I new that there would be no way to finish the basecoat clear within the reactive reducers time span, I've cleared as late as 3 days later with PPG concept products without loss of adhesion or degrade of the finish for 5 years on my V Hull. The part I'll get ripped on is that I've also substituted good quality laquer thinner, when doing fades and blends with basecoat, so the pot life will be longer and I can switch out small cup fulls quickly, usually very thin coats ( completely against reccomended procedure ) . Then polyurethane clear it using a pressure pot with long lines to make it lighter on the arms, and everything stays wetted equally (less time refilling). I'm in no way near the level of expertise of that of MitcherT, but I did own a restoration/bodyshop in a former life, painting for a living and I still love to doit whenever possble! This has been a very enjoyable thread to me. Hats off to MT you 'da man............:D
