While i own a Baja, the Sonic 31ss has got to be my fav boat. The only thing i dont like about Sonics are the built in swim platform. Our Baja has the same style platform. While its no issue for me, my wife (5'5") & our 10 yr old daughter have a hard time getting back on the boat. The ladder is far from the grab handle which makes their reach difficult when on the ladder. They dont seem to have the same issue when getting on boats w/ the tube platforms.

I like the AT 32, but ive noticed on most the models, the platform is mounted below the exhaust pipes. This would be another deal killer for me as i wouldnt want to take the chance of burns.

Its small things like that that on our next boat we will examine more closely.

CHOICE

I'm in the same situation as you, I really like the 25 Outlaw and have rode in plenty. But Sonics, Nordics are rare in my area too ,so before I make my decision soon the re-sale will effect my decision. For your price range a Baja will be no problem. Keep us posted of tour decision.

My wife is the opposite. She preferred our previous boat with an integrated platfom. She made me put a ladder on our tube platform. I prefer a flat transom with an aluminum platform.

I wouldn't worry about re-sale on a Sonic.

Between the (2), I would go Sonic without a doubt. Between the two, i think the Sonic is a better built, limited production boat. The 25 Outlaw is very popular, but don't be suprised when you see 2 or 3 of your twins when you are on the water. This of course results in there is always a plentiful supply of used 25 Bajas on the market.

Between the two, expect the Sonic to have a stronger resale. If you plan on running in rougher water, the Sonic should give the better ride. But, I've seen people run the Bajas very strong in crappy water conditions.

IMHO, I would try to get a ride in both. personally, in this size, I would be looking very strongly at the 26 Hustler, as well as the 25 Active Thunder.

Or Crown and Coke............ I agree you would be happy with both. It would come down to money and service in your area.

I have been in several 24 and 25 Outlaws. Been in a few 26 Sonics. Bajas did seem to have more cockpit room. Sonic much much better cabin.

I did see Noise Pollution vertical in his 26 Prowler once.

I Did get a little air that day. :winker:

Never been in a Sonic, but I put about 350 hours on a 25 Outlaw. Boat runs, drives, rides great with a 502 MPI. The new 26 Outlaw is out and your going to have a hard time finding a new 25 in a few months I would think or maybe your going to get a great deal on one! I would drive both and then make up your mind. I don't over night on our so I don't need a sink, etc in the cuddy. It's all about how you use your boat.

baja ~ sonic

I have driven both and personally would rather have the baja over a formula, and a sonic. If you really have money you should but the Outerlimits, or the Orgional Cigaret boats. But, dollar for dollar the baja is the better deal.....

But, I am a Baja owner......

I have a 25 outlaw and like it very much. Never really thought about a sonic and looked on the site, seem to look like nice boats. I do like the active thunders and have been on a 25 but never rode in one. I have no complaints about my Baja and there is plenty of room in the cabin for what i use it for.

Baja vs Sonic

I have to agree with 32storm - you'll see 25' Outlaw's everywhere , but you'll find Sonic's fairly scarce. After all, teh 25' is Baja's most popular boat built. I prefer not seeing "my same boat" all over the lake.

Baja does build a hell of a "value boat", in that you get alot for your money, it just isn't quite liek a custom.

Still wish for a Sonic 31', but hey, we all have dreams!

You could buy a 1 or 2 year old 288 sunsation for that amount!!The 26 sonic is a pig on the water, i do however like their garaphics, not quite a mitcherT job , but they look pretty cool. Whats a baja  :D My 2 cents
