I got a call from my agent last week saying that State Farm will no longer insure my boat due to the performance capabilities of it and for the fact that I do not have any supporting business with them meaning my cars or house. I have never had one claim with them or any other insurance company. My driving record is spotless. What really burns me is my brother in law has a 2005 30' Outlaw with 496 HO's and he's insured with no problems through State Farm. A buddy in Gaylord has a 2004 Dominator with 496 Mags insured with State Farm and no problems. I also had my Outlaw insured with the same agent and it had the same power as my Dominator. State Farm has an appeals process, but the agent will not fight due to me not having my cars and house insured through him. .I have been calling for rates from other companies and they are double what State Farm is :angry1: ..BUT..United Marine Underwriters just beat State Farms price so im good to go :D Sorry.. I had to vent!!

Don't you love insurance companies. I have my Dominator insured through Allstate and even though they do pretty good on insuring my boat, they are making up for hit by hitting me pretty hard on the truck. It's a vicious circle. :angry1:

I'm glad to see State Farm is finally loosing their azz on underpriced products. They do the same thing with snowmobiles-give it away for $100 bucks if you have auto/home with them. It's the law of numbers. There is just too many claims out there on a nationwide basis. That's what people don't understand. Companies make decisions to insure or not to insure based on CLASS (type of boat, etc) performance as a whole. It does not matter in one particular person has had claims or not. Doing it for one and not the other is unfair though, and unfortunatly goes on...

I am hearing that MOST companies will not pay for a boat with heavily modified motors, that is IF you get yourself in trouble with speed.. You very well may be screwed if they find out the boat is overpowered, by their standards... :yak:

Just switched from Progressive to State Farm. They had no problem taking just the boat.....I gave them my truck too because the price was only about $30.00/yr more than I was paying.
BTW: 3 locals had their boats destoyed in a fire this winter. 2 had State Farm and got their checks inside of 10 days. The other is/was with Progressive and is still waiting on settlement 2.5 months later.

atleast you aren't living on the gulf after katrina and they tell you the house was destroyed by a flood not by a Hurricane and since you didn't have flood ins. they wont cover it????????? talk about going postal!!!!!! of course when 911 hit they only had 300 billion in the bank. insurance is a big rip off! :dead1:

Had my 02 33o/l with 496 mags with state farm.Got my 38 special and they would not insure it.Keep in mind that this would have been my 6th baja to insure through them. They said my 38 had to much horse power. It has stock 502's.Take the power to weight ratio and the 38 is alot slower. They also have my house and 3 cars insured.Ended up going through a guy in Denison,Texas. He is lower than state farm was on my 33 o/l.I'm at 1200.00 a year with a 1% deductable and a cash value of 160,000.00

State farm has always been good to me. They insure my house, 3 vehicles, life, umbrella, and boat. Whenever I call my agent for a quote on ANY boat, he gladly gives me a quote. :)

Oh, and I've had fires, thefts, tornados, accidents, you name it and they always came through. :)

Buck Wild the same thing happened to me with them we everything insured through them no claims ever driving record clean the agent even came out a took pics then the check was sent back to me  ............WTH.............I call them up and they tell me the boat has too much hp for them to insure.496HO's ........I just don't understand it.

Buck Wild, I got a pretty good quote on line with Progressive and they will only insure up to 375 hp a motor so you should have no problem.

I have had boats insured with Statefarm for 12 straight years, 4 years on the Dominator. I attempted 3 claims all turned down, but they were still going to non renew my policy this year unless I went from a 500 deductible to 1000, anyone ever heard of this? I'm afraid if I sell this boat and buy another they will turn me down.
