And make sure you bring a lot of buns for all the sausage.... IMO 'nooner is way, way over-rated. Lots of drunken/drugged-up assholes, etc. Much more fun to find somewhere else on the lake that day and hang with friends.

'Course, I'm an old fart, so YMMV...

metro beach is probably the best launch spot
about a 12 min canal ride then its straight out
from there..about 15 mins boat ride depending on your speed..yes you can spend the night on the island
get there early..bad part about that is you will
most likely be locked in surrounded by early afternoon
so bring lots of provisions..food and beverage you could be stuck for awhile..

I am also done with the NOONER and it was started from people in my profession !
IMO it has gotten way out of control with all the underage drinkers and with that all the fights and stuff that break out. Not to mention the lack of respect for each others boats. I've seen people that wanted to leave just untie the boat next to them and let it drift.
There are better parties on the lake EVERY weekend with less hassle from the police.

So Chuck, no more gettin' naked and dancing on your boat deck? That might be a good thing :D

dont get me wrong- I like to drink with the best of em, but nooners-I have been going since i was about 10 with my pops, back when i was the dd- but it is just not fun for me any more.

If I was going, I planned on rafting at the moot, and taking the inflatable over!

we will be in grandhaven that weekend anywhoo! so..

I'll be there.

There's no doubt that it's rookie day at it's finest. The key to a good time is going with lots of friends and rafting off the island. That way everyones there to keep an eye out for each other. The last couple I never even made it to the island. IMO the party is much better out on the water in the rafts of boats. Also the thing I like about the party is everyone there. There's a lot of boater friends that I only see at the Jobbie parties....it brings everyone out of the woodwork.

That's how Bud Bash is getting in Houghton Lake. Rookies and dirtbags everywhere that rent pontoons and could care less about the boat next to them. Girls that should be given beads so they would put their clothes BACK ON! :dead1: Fights all over the place, etc.

I'm all for partying with the best of them but I just can't bring myself to hang out with tards like that.

Tom,
You left yourself WIDE open for a killer comeback !! I just don't have the balls to say it. ;)

lately I've just been having way more fun (and spending a lot less money) do the dirtbike thing. Hell , I don't even have the motor back together yet.

How? Its cheaper to boat for me! Last weekend I drove 2 hrs each way (60$) than only raced 1 class ($35) and pulled out a 2nd place finish and won (22$)

That put me 73.00 in the hole, not to mention food and drinks.
