Of the two cams, which are identical except for the LSA's, the top one is a 108, and the bottom one is a 114...

Which is gonna be hotter?

Buddy is using the 108 LSA, and the fast guy is saying use the 114, better out of the turns. 114 is supposed to be really for having stockish vacuum number, but my Buddy is getting good (legal) vacuum with the 108.

I say stick with the 108, it should be a little hotter than the 114.

What say you?

I have seen both cards; papers actually. The timing events are broader on the 114 of course, but the advertised lift and durations are the same.

:laugher: :laugher: :laugher:

We used that same 108LSA cam once.
I'm laughing because I remember nothing else then using that cam. I'm going back a ton of years.

BTW: We ended up running a cam ground on 104LSA  No vac rules.

Much different motor set up I would think.

====================================

What compression is he running ?
cid ? which cylinder heads ? intake ? carb ? fuel ?
How big and what type (dirt/asphalt) track ?
What's rpm's coming out of corner ? End of straight ?

Oh, almost forgot real important thing - exhaust manifolds or headers ? If manifolds are they log type or the Corvette ram style ?

Vacuum rule. He's good as is with the 108; I can't see the 114 being a step forward...

This is supposedly bone stock; they allow for .060" over, he's currently at .030" over, and building a .060" over for primary, small one is for back up, until it needs bored.

Engine builder is crude, but has lots of experience, just not a finesse type guy, 'about 11.5-12:1, running Torco, heads are 882's IIRC, no porting allowed. He's gonna bolt on 041X's, camelbacks without hump identifiers, with 2.02's. Bigger intake ports, 155cc, I believe. Showed me an aluminum intake, and I wrote down the numbers, but I can't find that right now. Carb is a new Q-jet cal-ed for 69 396. Manifolds, not the long logs.

I haven't been able to give much more help/ involvement lately, just too busy, but this cam thing seems like a simple decision-

but, should he stay with the 108 or not?

Track is asphalt, 3/8, I'm thinking.

54 overlap on the 108.
42 overlap on the 114.

I'm getting better power #'s with the 108 but that is based of the corvette rams vs normal log type.

Damn ! This could make a big difference too.

I'll PM RMBuilder and the Straubulator to see what they think.

The 108 will out run the 114 all day. If this this one of those Wasota classes with the vaccum rule you need to run the 108 and advance the ICL to 102.

My PC crashed this afternoon.

UHHHH, vacuum is not a problem, BUT, would advancing the cam help power, yet NOT lessen vacuum?

Thanks for seconding my thoughts on the 108.
