Someone on my boat without permission is considered a thief. Period. I treat them as such.
Moving a boat out of the way by pulling lines or pushing boats is limited determined by the circumstances.
Operating the boats motors or boarding the vessel is beyond acceptable.

I rode Harleys for years. Straddle the bike you are a thief. Start the motor on the boat you are a thief.

Address it as such.

Moving a boat out of someones way does not require boarding/starting. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!

well - when I'm rafted up to someone and I leave the boat unattended and I'm not the first boat against the pier I expect that it will be moved.

and if I raft up I expect than someone will be walking across my boat to get to the dock - because only one person in this world ever walked on water and I don't boat on the Sea of Galilee.

I never leave my keys in ignition either- too much of a temptation for the knuckleheads in this world.

we carry four big bumpers (not as big as Ted Link's of course, but they're pretty big) and we put them on both sides because a lot of people have those wafer thin things that look like "maxi-pads" and I don't want them against my boat.

:)

First, I would definetely not leave my keys in my boat.

I would also not leave my boat parked in such a way that anyone had to touch it to get their own boat out.

I would never let my boat out of my sight when rafted.

I have been blocked in at at public docks and had to force myself not to un tie jerks boats that were parked inconsiderately and just send them out to fair for themselves.

You said you left to go eat and drink yourself. Not trying to be a jerk but frankly you should have expected exactly what you got when you returned.

Sounds like you spend a lot of time by yourself on the dock watching your boat.

I hope I didn't come on too strong but...

This thread seemed very sympathetic to a situation that has two sides. I repeat. Don't block me in.

I won't touch your boat ...leave mine alone.

I won't block you in.

If your gonna raft..watch your toy. Don't leave.

My thoughts exactly...

Either way, soory to hear there was damage done. I hope all gets resolved!!!

Some jackarsh decided to redock my boat for me at the 1k poker run at 2 in the morning and take off. I come out in the morning and the wake he put up leaving sent my boat underneath the 800k dollar Outerlimits behind me and his bow slammed two nice dents in the gelcoat on my swim platform and tore up his bow.

Unfortunately 98% of the docking spots on PIB and the rest of the Islands WILL raft you, if your not willing to raft you dont dock there PERIOD! I enjoy spending time on the islands and patronizing the bars and shops on them. Driving around in circles out in the middle of the lake becase I dont want another boat near mine is out of the question.

I would venture to say that 95% of PIB boaters and 99.9% of Kelleys Island boaters will respect your boat like it is their own i.e.....fenders, no shoes, and the overall courtesey that you would expect from one boat owner to another.

When you pull into an island marina the first thing you are always asked is "how long are you staying?" this determines where your boat will be docked in conjunction with other boats and the lenght of time they will be staying. If you tie up on any of the PIB public docks and you are the first boat on along the dock YOU SHOULD EXPECT that there is a possibility that there could be up to 4 more boats rafted off of you and that you may not be leaving for a good 24 hours, if you refuse to aknowledge this you need to be kicked in the head and go dock somewehere else.

Rafting HAPPENS if you cant stand to take your eyes off of your boat for more than 10 minutes becase it is tied up to someone else then you need to move it somewhere else or better yet, find a new hobby.

Sorry that is the case where you boat. Where I boat nobody rafts up to your boat unless you give them the OK. I would not go there. Don't tie up to me and expect me to wait for you.

I can't believe you would tolerate this.

I DO NOT TIE UP TO OTHER PEOPLE. (Without permission)

DON'T DO IT TO ME.

Man what a world!

I just wrote a huge reason why DG is not at fault. It didn't load right, so I am not going to write again, but DG did nothing wrong. I know PIB and i know her.
No offence Redhot, but yes she did do something wrong. She left her keys in her boat. Hey, we all make mistakes. If we stop at a watering hole on the lake for lunch or dinner, I NEVER leave the keys in it. Just like I don't leave my keys in the truck. It invites trouble.

We don't raft up too often but when we do, I am always very respectful of other peoples boats. I alway ask if it's ok to walk across someone else's boat, and I make it a point to try and cross using the swim platform, not an upholstered hatch. Little courtesy goes a long way and most appreciate it. I do.

You missed the part about this being a reserved dock for LEOPA poker runners ONLY...Poor DG had the bad luck to tie up to the one azzhole that snuck in.

On a normal weekend, there is not a chance in h#ll that i will ever tie up to the PIB public docks

I realize that I did something wrong my leaving my keys in. If you'll look at my other posts - I freely admit it. We were in a hurry and I forgot. Tell me that you haven't done it before...

I was in a situation where we were part of LEOPA and everyone there is very curteous. Also, EVERYONE was spending the night - no exceptions (minus the idiot I was rafted off of because he wasn't part of our group). As Tony said, at PIB you don't have another choice except to raft off of people. Normally if you want to leave, you call the dock guys and they each take a line on the outside boat, you squeeze out and they pull the rest of the boats in. This guy didn't want to admit he wasn't where he was supposed to be.
