Hey all you Northerners I'm looking to plan a Big Lake Trip next August. As the founding member of the Northern Alliance we are looking real hard at Lake George NY. Will be trailering our boats and expect about ten+ members will be attending.

Looking for hotel/cabin overlooking marina or docks.....any suggestions. The boats would be from 38' to 21' in length, all powerboats.

Twelve years ago we did Lake Champlain and got cabins/hotel rooms overlooking our slips at Snug Harbor. What a great time. Unfortunately the hotel/cabins has turned into apartments as we found out this past weekend.

We re-thought our trip a bit and are now considering Lake George because it's a bit closer, we have never been there, and heard it's great boating.

Thanks in advance for any information. :D

I agree with mopower. There are way too many enforcement officers on LG! They like to bust balls. That Snug Harbor Looked beautiful! You won't find a place that accomadates you as well as that. Besides, LG is all about the $$$. Beautiful as it is, you can go broke in a weekend.

August in Lake George will be tough. Saratoga track season tends to drive rental rates up at that time of year.

We've rack stored our boat at Bolton Landing Marina for the past 2 seasons. The northern end of the lake is beautiful. Islands to camp on, small coves to hang out in and not a lot of boat traffic.

You need to get a permit to use the lake. Most of the marina's sell them on site.

Hit me privately if you want more info.

I would ask the LG Donzi Classici club.

They have a spring dustoff every June and a bunch of them trailer from all over and stay at the local resorts.

For large boats, Norowal has the best ramp. Unfortunately, it's not the easiest road access. You can either come down a long, steep brake-killing hill from I-87 to approach Bolton Landing from the north or take a chance on 9N and come in from the south. Just don't go through Bolton Landing on a crowded weekend with the trailer. It's a tight fit. No problem if there's no traffic.

We live and boat on Champlain.

Lake George is a great spot noise laws are somewhat restrictive.

And actually if you put in in Wesport NY the drive is about an hour longer on 87 than LGeorge.

Both great places.

There are a couple of Hotels minutes from the Lake in Burlington VT where there are plenty of Marinas.
