I'm looking to get a new anchor for my 28' Powerquest. What do you recommend. Danforth? Plow? Actually I'm looking for everything for this boat, anchor and rope, mooring lines, fenders (not sure what diameter to get). I stepped up from a 21' boat and all the stuff is gonna be too small. Sorry if this a dumb thread, I'm still a newbie to bigger boats.

I use a navy style anchor and have good luck with it in all conditions. Although the box style is probably your best bet.

We need pic's. :winker:

I got a Box anchor for a Christmas gift. Can't wait to try it out.
I bought a Box Anchor when I got my Sutphen. It`s the best anchor I`ve owned. It sets easily and holds almost too good. I`ve had trouble retrieving it twice, but finally managed to get it up. It folds flat and has it`s own bag. A little pricey compared to other anchors, but I really like it.

I used a danforth on my Stryker. Worked great, but the thing was too wide to fit inside the locker on the bow. Ended up keeping it under the hatch. I should have cut it down to fit actually. CONGRATS on the PQ!

Fortress are great for mud and sand but suck in hard bottom and deep water or high currents as they take too long to hit bottom. I have a box anchor in the garage I will sell if your interested.
PM me, I might be interested in that box anchor.

I use a danforth, but guys the Fortress is a Danforth anchor... its just different material... not to be a smartee :winker:

I bought a box anchor for my 32 dominator. They talked me into buying the bigger one and its heavy and bulky, should have just bought the smaller one. To do it over again I would have just stuck with the Danforth and saved my 170 bucks for more gas.
