I'm trying to decide on whether to go 540 or not, and could use some info re: what my existing rotating assembly might be worth. Cost/budget is actually the deciding factor so.......

About 140 hours on a ZZ502/502 steel crank, JE/SRP pistons, and shot peened rods.

Crank is in good shape but there is one very small gouge in one of the journals. Engine guy said it could be run as is but recommends turning it .010.

Pistons look like new, and the rods look good to.

Any idea what the rotating assembly might be worth ?

Thanks :)

Brand new Scat crank $650.00, H-beam rods $375.00, Pistons $500.00. These are better parts and new prices. If I'm building a motor I'd have to get your used stuff cheap to justify using used parts. Good Luck (I'm building a pair of 540's as we speak and just sold everything out of my motors 2 weeks ago)

My rule of thumb is.....
used is 1/2 price of new.
Unless the used can be refurbished to NEW condition.

Sometimes a seasoned block can be better than new.

Crank and rods are a gray area for me. By the time I buy used and have checked out what is the difference between investment used vs new. Not enough unless I buy it real cheap. But what is too cheap to trust?

But.... I had a NEW crank fail in 12 hours. :angry1:
Long story .. don't ask..but it caused a LOT OF HEADACHES :angry1: :angry1:

Are you going with Scat cranks in your 540s ?
