Cant Decide what boat to buy

Well I found a possible boat, its a 98 20Ft outlaw with 350. Priced right and looks good to me. When I test drive what things should I look at? How can I tell outdrive about to go out? And any tips on what to look at motor wise? Only thing not stock on it has a Stainless 4 blade prop on it.

Oh ya outdrive is an alpha one.

The Alpha should be fine with the light boat and a small block in front of it. You can check the drive oil for water, or metal shavings. Check for a loose gimbal housing, though I doubt that it is.

I believe that boat had a carpet floor, Bring a hammer & check to see if the floor is soft or not.
Also when you get behind the wheel beat on it, do a few hole shots.

In order to feel more comfortable about your purchase, see if you can take someone along who knows what to look for in buying a boat. Just remember, the more eyes that see it the better off you'll be. You might want to try and have a local marine mechanic take a look at it. He'll charge for the service but it would be worth it.
