I'm thinking about geting a bigger boat, mainly for a smoother ride/safety factor, so the family can be more comfortable. I have a 14mo old daughter and another on the way. So I'm considering a early 90's 35' Cigarette Cafe Racer with 2 415hp 502's. I do realize I would be going from a 82 mph boat to one that would barelly click off 70 (I still have to decide if I can live with that) But overall what are some opinions on this hull? Any strange caracteristic's I should know about? Would you consider it a good rough water boat? Anything I should look for when I'm checking them out?

Thanks,
Frank

Barely click off 70?!?!?!? :laugher: :laugher: I have a friend that has a 96, absolutely MINT, but a pig in the water...runs low 60's with 415 horse 502's. Great boat in the rough, but not fast. he boats on Lake Michigan, the roughest of any waterway out there and handles it, but slowly...

Oh, I was under the impression that with 415hp 502's and bravo's that it would run high 60's, close to 70. That's good to know Shameless.

May have been a speedo tp Gps reading. This is only one boat I know if, but from what I have heard, a 35 Cafe' is a bit slow with 502's. Not a bad thing, it is/was a great boat and crushed waves on Lake Michigan. If it can handle LM, it can handle anything!! I would love to have one!!! A true classic in my opinion!!

I looked at the Cafe's and didn't like the headroom in the cabin. I thought it was taller until I went in one.

This may be the boat for you. should run close to 80 with all the amenities.........

That thing looks sweet, I love the classic lines of the Cafe, but Mark is right, the Sonic will be quicker, and more comfortable. After mark bought his 35, I tried talking Jay into one, or a 31, but he insisted on the Apache.

After the spankin I took yesterday from the velocity I think a nice 415hp cafe racer is what you need Frank :D
:laugher: :laugher: Yeah, but I had to pry my sphinkter from the seat when we were done :D There was a guy with a 26 Sonic that ran me on the way down the North East river also. I finally got her up over 80 on that run.
